to get the number of twitter followers. This is a rudimentary approach to determine fanbase size. The following link shows the current (1/1/2020) twitter followers for most fbs schools. Please indicate if a twitter account in the link is incorrect or provide all 4 twitter accounts to include an additional school.

Interesting that Duke is number 1.

This list is top 70. All 65 power schools plus Connecticut (American > Big East/Independent), BYU (WCC/Independent), Army (Patriot/Independent), Navy (Patriot/American), and Air Force (Mt West.) I don't think there is any surprise with those 5.

Just a few months ago a Carolina fan on this message board mentioned that Duke had the largest Twitter following, even more than a few NBA teams. Yes, it is quite surprising.

Virginia Tech Football Twitter account is https://twitter.com/HokiesFB Which has 179,027 followers, not 0 as mentioned in the spreadsheet.

Some probably looked at the wrong account.

https://twitter.com/HokiesFB is the REAL football account (for fans)

TBH, Virginia Tech has too many twitter accounts.
