Not sure if anyone cares but Dixie State is in the top 10 in Divison 2 in basketball right now. Looks like a solid D2 basketball school is joining the WAC. Hope they are recruiting for D1 already. CBU has really impressed me with their transition to the WAC. Playing solid D1 ball and IMO are a dark horse for the WAC regular season title.

Yes, they're going to hit the ground running CBU-style.
On the other hand Tarleton State looks like their emphasis has been on football.

We needed a warm body to keep the WAC afloat. I’m looking forward to seeing Chi St sweep them next year in basketball.

Im glad that Dixie to performing at a high level.
Tarleton has been the standard for Basketball in the Lone Star Conference for 20 years. Weve had many deep playoff runs, several national number 1 rankings, and two final four appearances.
Our historic coach stepped down two years ago and were adjusting to the new coach.
But yes, were not just performing to our standard this year.

Would love to see more top D2 schools move up. GNAC schools and Azusa Pacific and West Texas A&M all have good basketball. WAC would be a beast then.

I think the WAC is scrapping up the best (basketball) D2 schools available. And, in the long run, they "might" supersede the success Cal State Bakersfield and UM Kansas City accomplished in the WAC and prior. However, neither program makes the WAC a beast. In fact, each new D2 school is a lesser addition to the WAC than the prior D2 schools added. GCU was more ready financially to make the move to the WAC than Cal Baptist... Cal Baptist was more ready financially than Dixie State... And, Dixie State was more ready than Tarleton State.

There is not any D2 schools out there right now that would make the WAC a beast. I think we’re good right now with these D2 move ups unless things shift around again. As long as we’re in the WAC and these move ups benefit keeping the conference stable, I’m ok with it. Besides that I don’t have interest or care for these schools at all.

Just want to jump in to point out that our 998 counts for a lot more because of this. Pounds not tickets.

The CBU average was 3,404 through six games. They did not post attendance numbers for the game Saturday Night. But to get down to 2,913 per game, they would have had to have zero attendance at the game against Bethune-Cookman.
