WELL DONE ...

Now it's time to go to work. A week off for exams then we find out of this team is the real deal or not. Senderoff seems to have found his 8-man rotation. But it looks like any further bench development - if any - will be done strictly at practice.

Still seems like team could use another big in the mix ... but that's just from looking at the box scores. Beck/AC still huge disappointments, particularly Beck coming from UNLV.

Interesting rotations today. First half Castillo was the first big off the bench. Second half instead of bringing a second big in when they subbed out one of the starting bigs he went with a 4 guard lineup with Peterson and Williamson both out there. Until now it's seemed like Peterson and Williamson have been altering time in the dog house. I like the idea of playing them together when we go small as long as they're both crashing the boards. Sidenote, Williamson hitting the deck for a loose ball in the second half up 24ish will not go unnoticed by the coaches.

With that said, I think Simons might be our most important player if we're going to spend extended periods with a 4 guard lineup. He's shown he's got the ability to get after it on the glass. Need to see that every game. If you remember the 2017 team was forced to go to 4 guard lineups nearly exclusively down the stretch and it ended up being the catalyst to the tourney run. The only reason that worked was because Edwin was a physical guard that contributed on the glass and Walker became force on the glass. Simons seems like the guy with the ability to do that so we need to see it every game.

One other comment... These dunks by Williams are getting down right ridiculous. He's gotta lead the team in dunks and he's the shortest guy on the team. Tonight he had a tip dunk, a fast break dunk where he took off from well outside the restricted area, a regular alley-oop, and a reverse alley-oop. Then there was another psuedo-dunk where he just kind of threw it through the rim. It's a shame more fans aren't coming out. He's worth the price of admission alone.

We often talk about wanting to see heady PGs come back as an assistant coach... Can we get Booman to come back as a strength and conditioning coach? Whatever his workout routine is, it works.

Just can't understand why AC is not more of a presence on this team considering his Juco production .... https://www.njcaa.org/sports/mbkb/2018-1...ew=profile

Perhaps the transition is more than he/Senderoff expected and over time he will develop. One thing I do see, based on stats, is a sudden urge to shoot the 3-pointer when he does hit the floor. While he was a tad above average 3pt FG shooter in JC, he attempted less than 100 out of 350 FG attempts. So he was much more selective.

He was also an extremely efficient rebounder with 21 games of 8 rpg or more. Usually, rebounding translates regardless of level, but so far with AC, not yet.

Puzzling, but still time.
