This right here. Norvell has taken this program to heights it hasn't seen and they aren't done yet for this year.
If he leaves for Ole Miss thank him, congratulate him, and wish him well. He has left this program in a position to where it should be able to continue to win as long as they continue to put the effort into it.

Hands down, but I'm sure Norvell also saw what Freeze was able to do at Ole Miss.
Wherever Norvell goes he's going to win. Now whether it's enough to please the expectations of said school is whole other thing in itself.

He will either be at FSU, USC, or Memphis. I think the love he has for Memphis wouldn't allow him to take the local SEC job.

Yep (cheat to win & get caught) and one more major infraction might get OM the death penalty.

I wonder if the OM Ath Dept is concerned about that. If so, how involved are their compliance officers in the daily routine of the FB coaching staff?

Ole Miss should bring David Cutcliffe back.
He will teach them how to win without cheating and to lose with class.
The guy that Archie picked to mentor his boy's can't be a bad choice.

Exactly what I was thinking. Cheat to win and then get caught and end up coaching at Liberty University... Ya, that sounds way more attractive than staying at the perennial top 25 and New Year's Bowl contender you have already built...

Wouldn't accept a US News article to tell me where quality of life exists. It's in the eyes of the beholder, not some statistical based article written by someone in the northeast. I lived in Memphis my first 26 yrs of life & spent the next 25 yrs attempting to get back to Memphis after living in the Seattle metro area and Atlanta metro - and spending a lot of time around LA & NYC. Until my children put roots down in the Atlanta area - I was all about Memphis as where I wanted to live - its in the eyes of the beholder.

Who could blame him?
That's a serious payday of say 20-25 million
OK, $20-25M over 4-5 yrs & get fired. OR, $12-15M if he stays at Memphis over the same period & he gets another contract in the $5M range to follow on or the premo job at Bama, OU etc. It's just not worth it to coach a loser program like OM where he won't even end a season in the top 25.
5 Million for 5 years...
He'd be crazy not to take it...
Flip the Ole Miss game and the conference schedule this year.
We likely lose Ole Miss
We likely lose SMU
and possibly lose Navy
We win Temple.
3 losses and that type of money aint coming next year.
Don't forget Cincinnati and the missed field goal against Tulsa and you are giving us WAY too much credit for Temple. We could have just as easily been 6-6 this year.

Will you still feel that way if Gainwell and others were to transfer with him to OM?

Literally no one here cares about your opinion of our town.
Fayetteville sucks man. I get so many recruiters from Walmart trying to convince me to move there. Never going to happen. lol.

$5MM/year....to drive a beater into a concrete wall and get horribly mangled for the rest of your life or...
enjoy the high-end suv ride for now until
the Maybach gets delivered.
Not a hard choice.

If that's what they wanted to do yes I would still fill that way. Players transfer during coaching changes it happens and will always happen.

How successful was Freeze really? He was 39-25 over 5 seasons and went 5-7 and struggled his last season.
Is 8-5 every year really going to keep Norvell around long term at Ole Miss?
The sell for Memphis needs to be a $4 million package with a long term contract and illustrating the lack of success within the Ole Miss program. Nothing against the job it's who you are going up against in the conference. Facilities, revenue, boosters all huge pluses with the program, but it is too hard to compete. Long term he would make more money at Memphis. Do we really expect him to win long term against Coach O, Saban, Jimbo, Kirby, Malzahn, Mullen and the resources those programs have?

Sure. Ole Miss is going to make him the 12th highest paid coach in America. Ok.
