OT: A request
Hey y'all,

I'll keep this to the point as much as possible, but sorry if I ramble.

Back before my wife and I got married in 2016, we made the decision that we were going to go back and finish school. We decided on App State, due to its closeness to our families (and partially our love for the mountains/high country). We made the move, and fell in love with Boone and it's culture immediately. App State became our home.

Move forward into our second semester on campus, and I was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia at the age of 26. We were devistated.

The College of Business at App immediately understood my plight. I told them I wanted to do everything I could to finish school, and they worked with me. They gave me online classes galore, with special understanding for my condition, and even allowed me to take a "seated" class from the hospital.

We got the cancer into remission, and my wife and I moved back to Boone. As most people would do in the case of a near death experiance, I made a lot of life changes. I worked on maintaining a 3.5 GPA (I ended close, but not quite there), started powerlifting, and lost 100 pounds.

In March of this year, 2 months before graduation, my AML returned. The College of Business once again did what they had to, not just to insure that I could complete my classes, but that I could walk the stage in May as well.

I did.

App State football is my connection to my alma mater, like many others on here, and is one of the few things that can truly make me happy while we continue this fight. I love this team. I may not agree with the coaching decisions, play calls, what have you: but I feel the Mountaineer spirit in my blood every time we hear Hi Hi Yikas.

I really enjoy being on this board with you all. The banter is always fun, and I truly enjoy watching the SBC perform well as a whole (yes, this includes the birds from Stinksboro).

Finally, my request. In a few weeks I will be having a stem cell transplant to hopefully kill this thing off for good. It is a fairly risky procedure, and I will be under close watch for signs of rejection for the next two years. The transplant itself involves use of VERY strong chemotherapy and full body radiation.

I'm just asking for prayers. If you don't believe in praying, your thoughts and well wishes are appreciated as well. I'm hopefully reaching the end of this long fight, and I need all the help I can get in order to get there.

Sorry about the offtopicness mods

Good vibes friend. Positive thoughts. My father's partner was just diagnosed with AML last week. We're hoping she has a positive treatment as well. It starts this week.

God still answers prayers and this was recently proven in our family. I pray that God will heal your body and bring you and your family peace.

I am so sorry you are having to go through this.

Prayers up for you. A co-workers husband had stem cell treatment for a rare form of cancer last year. He's been in remission for a year now.
