Speaking of offensive lineman, i was surprised when i saw this on the depth chart:

LG

Jeremy Cooper

Marcelo Mendiola OR Cody Lamb

I thought Mendiola was a casualty of grades in the recruiting class, and he ends up maybe playing as a true frosh?

RE: What Do You Most Want To See Thursday Night?
Update on Wiggins from Equirer article. They didn't rule him out for Thursday here:
The status of one of Cincinnati football's best players is in doubt.

Junior safety James Wiggins "tweaked his knee," Monday, Bearcats' coach Luke Fickell said Tuesday. UC does not yet know Wiggins' status for Thursday's season-opener against UCLA in Nippert Stadium. A visit with the medical staff is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon and an update is expected by Wednesday, Fickell said.

"We don't have a full rundown on what it is just yet," Fickell said. "We're optimistic. Hoping, but we have to get prepared. I don't know if he'll be running out with us (Thursday) or not. We're hoping to find out soon."

The 6-foot, 205-pound had 54 total tackles and four interceptions last season.

UC listed Wiggins and Darrick Forrest as the starters at safety on the depth chart released earlier this week. Sophomore Ja'von Hicks and Alabama transfer Kyriq McDonald were the No. 2 unit. McDonald gained immediate eligibility after arriving at UC this offseason, and Hicks, a local product who starred at Colerain High, drew positive reviews during training camp.

"I feel like I’ve gotten a lot better with (Wiggins and Forrest) in the meeting room pushing me," said Hicks earlier this month. " It’s unique. We just push each other everyday. And coach is always telling me I’ve got to be that guy that comes in and becomes a difference-maker."

He worked hard and got himself eligible just after signing day. The talent level was always there, he played at the same high school as Jeremy Cooper, a power in the premier parochial conference in Chicago l.

Worst. answer. ever. 03-nutkick

I’ll go with Ridder showing improved check down capabilities and the defense stopping the run.

Don’t be Jelly

Well, so much for that. UCLA's qb pretty much handed the ball to a UC player 3 times.

He's got a real bad habit of holding the ball one handed out in space with defenders all around. First thing they teach you is to tuck the ball. Unless you have really big hands, a bad bad idea. He's not real fundamentally sound. Typical kid who was a much better athlete growing up.
