Might as well put in Upper Iowa. Has just as much of a chance of happening.

Yep will never happen. If there is a separation it will be the current P5 + a mixed of G5s to make one more conference.
G5 Guaranteed a spot
Army
Navy
Air Force
BYU
Boise State
Cincinnati
Houston
Memphis

Good Chance:
UCF
USF
ECU
Temple
Tulane
Rice
Buffalo
Colorado State
San Diego State
UNLV
Hawaii
UAB

That's 85 teams 14 teams per conference (P6) + ACC and Notre Dame

Something like this is what I hope to see....

I thought this all sounded familiar.

Here's a quasi-realistic megaconference/breakaway scenario. There are actually 48 teams that "make the cut", as well as an additional 24 that are paid less but brought along to reduce the number of lawsuits against the 48.

Big Ten
Atlantic: Maryland, North Carolina, Ohio State, Penn State, Rutgers, Virginia
East: Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Purdue
Central: Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, Wisconsin
West: Arizona, California, Stanford, UCLA, USC, Washington
Protected crossovers: Colorado/UCLA, Illinois/Northwestern, Michigan/Ohio State, Notre Dame/USC

SEC
Atlantic: Clemson, Florida State, Miami-FL, NC State, South Carolina, Virginia Tech
East: Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee
Central: LSU, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt
West: Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, TCU, Texas, Texas Tech
Protected crossovers: Alabama/LSU, Florida/Florida State, Georgia/South Carolina, Oklahoma/Oklahoma State, Tennessee/Vanderbilt, Texas/Texas A&M

Big 24
Atlantic: Boston College, Central Florida, Pittsburgh, South Florida, Syracuse, West Virginia
East: Cincinnati, Duke, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Memphis, Wake Forest
Central: Baylor, Boise State, Houston, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State
West: Arizona State, Oregon, Oregon State, San Diego State, Utah, Washington State

Conference schedules are 9 games, with 5 in-division and 4 interdivision (rotating with the exception of some protected crossovers, noted above).

Notable annual interconference games: Arizona/Arizona State, Georgia/Georgia Tech, Iowa/Iowa State, Kansas/Missouri, Kentucky/Louisville, NC State/North Carolina, Nebraska/Oklahoma, Penn State/Pittsburgh, Virginia/Virginia Tech, Washington/Washington State
