The guy isn’t even trying anymore. He’s completely beaten and staring longingly at four year old highlights of their one win in the last six.

This is too bad. He was a talented WR. He got injured, then passed over on the depth chart. This upcoming season may have been his opportunity to contribute.

agree, i think next season was his break out opportunity.......i don't see where I would have given him significant playing time this season over the WRs that have been playing. Hope he finds what he is looking for, but think he is not making a good decision.

On the flip side, it opens up another scholarship in this recruiting cycle.

Rakeem Davis, Jahmol Robinson, Gionni Terrell are some other names I found that are no longer on the roster.

interesting, the only one of note to me is Rakeem Davis (Rashard's brother) who is small but has serious speed. I think they were making him a DB, maybe was not a fan of that, oh well......I think JMU will be fine.

Jahmol was Rashad Robinson's brother I believe.

Torn hip muscle is "career-ending?"

I’m no Doc, but have some “hip experience”.

This sounds, if reported correctly I have no idea, torn not pulled. That means either separated from the bone or something that could severely weaken the hip muscle with scar tissue etc., and the hip is a big un for all kinds of daily living. Balance, normal activity like climbing steps or swinging a golf club, whatever.

As far as football goes, the hips are really important for an athletic position like wide out.

Anyone know if he left school altogether or just hung up the cleats?

Regardless, wish him well, that’s gotta suck for a young guy like that.

I have had a few sprinters experience pretty severe hip injuries over the years (partial separation/tear of the hip flexor from the bone). Two recovered well, one could no longer run. No hit, just sprinting full speed.

Bo Jackson is a good example of a 'freak" hip injury. That one is painful to watch.
He was one of the strongest running backs in the NFL, but all it takes is a weird scenario (in his case) to end a career.

Hope that young man gets proper treatment it heals up well.
And now Spalding is walking on at Va Tech so I guess he healed up and realized he didn’t have a spot on the field at JMU.
