RE: Practice Schedule and times
Interesting that almost every practice time is 2:30pm. Is that because that is a common game time?

Carey’s practice times would vary quite a bit if I recall correctly.

Doesn’t interfere with morning classes when they go back to school?

I assume that Childers starts as the #1 QB. Is Bowers #2 or does he start at bottom?

Based on this tweet Bowers is second with Thompson third.

RE: Practice Schedule and times
Bowers will be starting game 1. The coaches are doing the right thing- Childers is the returning starter and participated in Spring Ball, Bowers did not. It is Childers' job to lose. Bowers needs to go and win it these next couple of weeks which I 100% anticipate him doing... Either way, competition is a GOOD thing. It will make Childers (and Thompson for that matter) a better player should he ever be called upon due to an injury or poor play.

Go Huskies! 8/31 cannot come soon enough!!!

Beat Illinois State.

Yeah, designating him QB1 before a real practice would have been something.

It says something that Childers wasn't sent to any of the media days. The writing is on the wall.

Open practices are the 11th (Season ticket holders) and 18th per the official social media accounts

Open practice date for Season ticket holders only. I like it:

Smart move. Open practice for the committed.....

Hmmm, I was at the practice today and the stadium was wide open. I was told they’re encouraging fans to attend as long as they don’t record anything of course. Fans will be monitored but it appears they’re open. BTW, I was the only person in the stands and was approached so it’s not like it went unnoticed.

Kaleb’s article about the deep ball passes was spot on. Both Bowers and Childers had multiple nice deep route throws. Even Anthony impressed and If any QB that won the deep ball challenge It was Childers.

Other thoughts:
Good energy from the team and staff. Feels more pro like than Carey’s practices.

Childers is competing and looked very comfortable, which should be expected. Before people flip out about Childers possibly wining the job or Bowers not living up to expectations we need to be patient. The competition has already ensured Childers is locked in and playing confidently. He didn’t have any bad throws today and looked better than ever. I will be confident in the system and whoever wins the job on 8/31.

Richie was the best of the WRs to my untrained eye. He’s explosive, fun to watch. Top 4 WRs all looked solid. Hall improving but not there yet imo.

Harbison and Nettles showed good burst.

Crawford got majority of short route passes.

Hard to tell starting OL w/so much rotation but grad transfer was in the mix, mostly next to Hawn with the 2s I think.

The UConn transfer in the defensive backfield looks so tall. A bit lost on day one but he could be a nice piece eventually.

Not much to note on D without pads.

I think Bowers starts also. I find the evolution on the opinion of Childers on this board pretty interesting. Last year, he was deemed the worst QB in FBS, and by some as not worthy of FBS level competition. Now you bring in a transfer from Cal, who lit the world on fire there 1 year and people assume he has no chance to win the job? I assume if Childers wins the job, he will be back as public enemy number 1.

According to this tweet, all future practices are closed to public except Season Ticket Holder day and Family Day.

I’m not disappointed. This is good for the team. The last couple of years there was a lot of leaking of news going on that sometimes was true and sometimes wasn’t. Hard to build a strong team culture when you have parents of the team internally tearing down the team culture. Let the coaches coach and let the players play. If people really want to know what’s going on get your tickets. Boom!!!04-rock
