Good find. Why don’t we have a beat writer who can break it down like this?
We actually have several beat writers and talkers who do break it down just like this. There is absolutely nothing in the article that hasn't been written or spoken on radio in the last 48 hours.
Probably so. But J&J totally missed the tv contract impact on the radio yesterday. They thought it would be significant, when there actually is no impact.
What does that mean no impact? The current teams will still make 7 mil and they wil deduct the 84mil that UConn would have made during that time. Or no impact as in, the deal remains exactly the same so each school will get an increase of around 700k per year for splitting UConn's money, plus another 1 time payment of around 1mil for the exit fee?
My words, "no impact". I meant, as it's reported, the tv contract stays as is with the loss of 1 member. J&J speculating that this will sting financially, and that ESPN may force a new lower contract similar to the old contract - that was just an uninformed bad look for them.
Now what it means exactly - like you - I'm not clear on. Could be same per team payout, or could increase. But it certainly won't be reduced dramatically, if all other media outlets are to be believed.
