St Louis joins list of cities with at least 1 championship in all 4 major sports
St. Louis Blues won the Stanley Cup, and now St. Louis is a city with at least one championship in all 4 major professional sports. The full list of cities that have achieved this accomplishment and their all time finals record in the 4 current professional sports :
NY nfl(8-12) nba(2-6) mlb(38-35) nhl(8-8)
BOS nfl(6-6) nba(17-4) mlb(10-5) nhl(6-14)
CHI nfl(8-6) nba(6-1) mlb(7-11) nhl(6-7)
LA nfl(2-5) nba(11-14) mlb(6-6) nhl(3-2)
DET nfl(4-1) nba(3-2) mlb(5-7) nhl(11-13)
PHI nfl(4-3) nba(4-5) mlb(7-8) nhl(2-6)
WAS nfl(5-5) nba(1-3) mlb(1-2) nhl(1-1)
+ STL nfl(1-1) nba(1-3) mlb(12-12) nhl(1-3)

If defunct leagues are included (afl, aba, whl) then 2 more cities are included:
PIT nfl(6-2) nba(0-0) mlb(5-2) nhl(5-1) afl(0-0) aba(1-0) wha(0-0)
HOU nfl(0-0) nba(2-2) mlb(1-1) nhl(0-0) afl(2-1) aba(0-0) wha(2-1)

Those aren't all-time records; maybe finals records?

MLS soccer is a current professional sport.

Very elite list indeed.

So the list of winning all 4 major sports was just BOS/NY/PHI/DET/CHI for the longest time. Then LA joined in 2012 and WAS/STL the past 12 months.

Boston doesn't have any NFL championships.

New York has only 5 NFL titles, and only 4 NHL titles.

Washington has no NBA titles.

Los Angeles has only one NFL title.

The Patriots are a Boston team, there's no cheap, (re) buildable land in Boston, which is why they set up shop in some random Colonial village nearby.

Also, the Wizards, as the Bullets, won the 1978 NBA title.

What are the cities that are one championship away from getting all four and have the 'missing' team in place? I count Miami (Panthers), Washington (Nationals), Detroit (Lions), and San Francisco (Sharks, if you consider San Jose part of the Bay Area).

When CFL is used with NFL for football then Toronto is included in the list
+TOR cfl(20-12) nba(1-0) mlb(2-0) nhl(13-9)

I have San Jose & Anaheim as their own city and not included with San Francisco or Los Angeles.

3 championships & need Hockey
Cleveland
San Francisco
Baltimore
Milwaukee

3 championships & need Baseball
Dallas

3 championships & need Basketball (not including ABA). If ABA is included then Pittsburgh joins the list with their 1968 championship.

RE: St Louis joins list of cities with at least 1 championship in all 4 major sports
There are 2 sets of cities that have met in the finals of all 4 sports

BOS STL 11 7-4 nba(1957) nba(1960) nba(1961) nhl(1970) nfl(2001) mlb(2004) mlb(2013) - mlb(1946) nba(1958) mlb(1967) nhl(2019)

PHI CHI 6 4-2 mlb(1910) mlb(1929) nba(1947) nfl(1948) -
nfl(1947) nhl(2010)

LA & New York can join the list if they meet in the Super Bowl

I don't think anyone in Michigan really counts the Lions NFL Championship.

Why? If you're not including Anaheim with LA, then you need to not include New Jersey teams with New York, and not include Maryland teams with DC. Also can't include the Patriots with Boston, because Anaheim is closer to LA than Foxborough is to Boston.

Anaheim is definitely LA. San Jose is looked down upon and distant from Oakland and San Fran. but still an anchor. It's outside the MSA but in the TV market.

I will be glad when marketing firms look beyond raw statistics and actually place teams, products and services where people with cash flow interest actually are ( Duhhhh, let's place an MLB team in Florida because it has so many people).

With sports franchises it's all about who has the money to buy a team and who can shake down politicians for taxpayer money for a stadium or arena. If it was only about fans buying tickets and luxury boxes, the NBA would still be in Seattle.

And stadiums should be 99% local taxpayer free by now. That's another irritating story though.

The 49'ers now play in a San Jose suburb.

8 miles from SAP Arena (Sharks) to Levi's Stadium (49er's). 49er's Stadium to Oracle Park (Giants) is 43 Miles

Anything SF/OAK/SJ/SC should just be grouped into "Bay Area". That's 4 different cities hosting a team for one market.
