Dont forget his T&F hire, Susan Seaton, who has won coaching staff of the year twice, won 3 conference titles, placed the highest the program ever has nationally (12th in 2018), and has more All-Americans since 2015 that the program had in it's entire existence prior to that (29 since 2015 vs. 20 prior to that in all of the years of the program). Oh, and individually coached the only T&F National Champion we have ever had, Annette Echikunwoke.
He really hasn't "missed" on a hire yet.

Across the board just the athletic department is in such great shape right now.

Add to that:
Women's Volleyball: 2nd in AAC with a 26-8/15-3 record and made it to the 2nd round of the NCAA Tournament.
Women's Lacrosse: Lost in the AAC Championship game to Florida this season
Women's Swimming and Diving: 2nd place in 18/19
Women's Track and Field: Won Indoor Championship, 2nd in Outdoor
Men's Track and Field: 2nd in Indoor, 3rd in Outdoor
Men's Swimming and Diving: Won 2nd Straight AAC Title
Really, the only sports we didnt do well in this year were Men's and Women's Soccer, and we won the conference last year in Women's Soccer...
It is pretty crazy how much our Olympic sports have turned it around, all without a drop in quality of our revenue generators. I dont know if the AAC does an "All Sports" award, but I'd assume we're pretty damn high up there.

He has done great work. There are still some around here who don't like him, but I guess you can't please everyone.

He has been huge for olympic sports which quite frankly have sucked for a long time, and been pretty good with the revenue sports as well. You could potentially say UC has the best overall G5 athletics in the country. Houston would probably be the only one with a case.

Yeah, the Olympic sports focus and facility upgrades have been huge. I worked at the University of Denver for a handful of years, and use them as an example. They obviously don't have football and basketball isn't worth mentioning, but they have elite teams in hockey, lacrosse, gymnastics, and soccer. Those sports all average between 2,000 and 8,000 a game, but more importantly they bring in a ton of youth teams and people from the community - those are prospective students and donors, and a few of those sports give the school cache in some influential circles.

I’ve heard the “close to aau” thing for about 8 years now.

I agree regarding the AAU. There are some objective criteria but it's also subjective--an elite club that doesn't have to admit any more schools--ever. With that said, Mike Bohn has done a fine job pumping up the UC brand and I appreciate his energetic passion for Bearcat Athletics.
Many wanted a change of direction in basketball yet few would have suggested firing Mick with the success he had overall. Seems to me Bohn successfully navigated through some rocky waters on that one with constituent groups he had to manage. Mick saved face by taking a "better" job and Bohn was a hero to some and a villain to none.
