RE: NIU. Utah game
We would have beaten them with an average offense last year. Grrrr can’t wait to play these guys again.

Agree, any of our last 3 QB's and we win against Utah. Be tough this year, like to think we will be in it, but at Utah, tough place to play. I would like to see NIU play Utah after Coach H has a couple years under his belt. BYU at home next year will be tough, but think NIU has a shot at winning again.
Beat Utah

RE: NIU. Utah game
Seriously, I don't know how anyone could be down on this team right now. I am totally on the opposite end of the spectrum. WHAT IF we go up to Utah and win? Could we not go and win the next week in Lincoln? Besides being all on the road, this is the perfect schedule to make noise as a Gof5.

There seems to be only one person (Same person as usual) that is down on this team right now. The energy and excitement coming out from the new coaching staff is addicting!

Yes. Best way to deal with him is block/ignore and do not quote him for any reason.

Down? I have never been more excited. NIU is headed in the right direction. I just am hesitant to think with that much change it can happen in 1 year. Even the major bowl bound Broncos with Fleck took a year to get things turned around.

Thats because Fleck had to do a complete rehaul of the ENTIRE roster at WMU. Hammock does not need to do that here. There were a couple key losses but 90% of the major players from last season are back and they have a proven transfer QB coming in. This team should be expected to win ATLEAST 7 games next tear, if not more.

RE: NIU. Utah game
You have to speak MDnese. Everything he posts, and I mean EVERYTHING, is a veiled shot at Carey wrapped in blind faith in Childers.
Example: “ the next few years will be tough” translated into MDnese is “Carey drained the program’s talent”
“Utah will be a blow out” = “Childers managed to keep that game close. Bowers cant.”
It’s even an option in google translate.
If you use the translator you will understand it. It still won’t make sense, but you’ll know why he said it.

I dont want to diminish a conference championship, but NIU has been thoroughly embarrassed against top 40 teams in the past 4 years. NiU will never be a top 25 program year in and year out. I just want to get back to the day where we feel like NIU can be a year in and year out top 40 or top 50 team and be competitive with decent teams
I want top 20 again, and NIU and this staff can do it!

RE: NIU. Utah game
On the "QB transfer from Cal" thread, MD predicted 6-6.
How about some "new math:" There isn't anybody in the MAC that NIU can't beat. That's 8 games, though there are obviously never any guarantees. Then there's Illinois State. That's maybe 9. Win one against the P5 (Utah, Vanderbilt, maybe Nebraska?) and that's 10. Even if Bowers can't walk on water, the competition THammock has instilled has everybody on notice. I also like that he said he wants to put guys into situations where they can be successful.
Overly optimistic? Perhaps. But ohhhhhh how good it would be.
