There was a reason Yeager was the longest-serving conference commissioner in America - no one wanted to hire him away.

The man had two final four programs in his conference and was clueless as to how to keep them or use that success to get a better TV deal ($$).

That being said , Yeager looks like Einstein compared to this guy.

How do you follow up a TV deal on a network that most people don't have and won't see? Get a streaming internet deal with a outfit that no one has ever heard of and don't want to find...

It's like there is some secret scheme to make the CAA the least known conference in America...

Small positive. The press release says 90 mens games. That would imply that only conference games were included. Non conference games may not be included and so might still available be available on CAA.TV

If you live in DC United Territory (DC, MD, DE, and certain parts of VA) you can get Flo Sports for $8.99/month...if you pay annually

I have a buddy who’s a big DCU fan that told me Flo Sports is an absolute joke... this news today makes me more upset than any of the losses this season. We deserve better as fans.

What is the gameplan here? Diehard CAA fans are the only ones who will care about subscribing to an internet service to watch games. Which means CAA games will basically be invisible to fans we may be trying to be on board. How much money do they possibly think this will generate to make this even a possibly viable decision?

We had options, including ESPN+.

Chose Flo for $$$ and they allowed for RSN distribution

If i had to guess a certain school in Harrisonburg was won over by that part of the deal

Did member schools vote for this? Or was this a Commissioner decision?

I feel like something of this magnitude would HAVE to be voted by the member schools.

Good article out of Charleston on this topic
SUMMARY
$4.5 million dollar deal for 4 years

Money that schools would have gotten will be used to pay for the 8 games on CBS Sports Network.

Games can still be on local TV/RSN (MAKE A DEAL WITH WILM AND CAPITOL BROADCASTING PLEASE)

Schools can make ad revenue from Flo

Non CBS SN and Flo Games will stream on CAA.TV with as per the past.

When you sign with ESPN at this level they get EVERYTHING. Schools wanted flexibility.

THOUGHTS
If UNCW makes a deal to get the Flo Games on WILM i would move from negative to neutral. I still think putting our content behind a high $ paywall is a bit foolish, but if a free local TV option existed I could live with it

It still does NOT make sense for schools like UNCW and Charleston, who have in the past, put emphasis on out of the local area marketing. This entire deal stands to hurt those viewers the most. If you’re not in a local market... you’re stuck paying a bill that even most middle class Americans can’t afford on top of paying necessary bills.

There’s no way I’ll ever buy into this. Ever. And as a UNCW alum, Seahawk Club member and someone who will live so far away from Wilmington it sucks that the school I love would make such a stupid decision.

So the money earned from the internet service that no one has heard of will be used to buy games on a network that nobody watches?

Well, I guess there's a reason no one ever confused "Joey D" with Albert Einstein...

C-USA just signed a TV deal with the NFL Network.

This is why FBS football can be so important.
