Agreed, I love watching Geno play and I think we need him to have any chance of a successful season

Im 50/50 on it, his head is in other places now. Would be good to see him another year but at the same time, NIU basketball is in a transition where it may not be a completely bad thing to get new people into leadership and growth roles.

Trash please explain? Some just feel German would be better off going pro since that is where his heart and head seems to be at. I hope it works out for him because you can tell NIU is not where he wants to be right now.

No.
He is getting feelers to play in NBA. He returned once, he could return again. I don't think he is NBA material right now. Would playing another year at NIU improve his skills, maybe. Playing in Europe improve his skills, maybe. The only thing I know is he would be one more year towards a degree which is a nice fall back.

This reflects my opinion on it pretty accurately.

My earlier comment was just frustration over another player leaving early...in this case one of the best players in a long time. Of course I want him back for another year also.

No reason to shame someone exploring better opportunities and pursuing their dreams. No different than you or me or a coworker looking for a better career opportunity.

That was my exact point. His heart is on going pro, and I am kind of wondering if both parties would benefit with him going pro. I dont blame German at all

I just wonder if Sutton Smith had not been a graduate, had there have been this much debate (with any kind of negativity) over forgoing his senior season when, at the time of his decision, he was not a sure lock to be drafted and didn't even have a defined position at the next level.

Going pro seems like a bit of a pipe dream. He has burned no bridges and should be welcomed back when it doesn’t work out.
