Actually, reading the tweets, there may be more than one.

I’m pretty sure this is referring to Anthony Jackson. He’s a NJ corner back. Runs track. Is very fast. And started following me on Twitter. There’s only two reasons to follow me on Twitter. UFC updates and NIU football.

Looking at recent offers to New Jersey kids.

Eric Rogers could be one of the guys.

He runs track, so that could be the whole Bolt reference someone mentioned earlier.

Better late than never.

One of our verbals Cody Kopp was finally rated by 247. He had over 10 offers and is ranked a 3 star .8438. NIU now currently has the 72nd rated class.

Right now we have 18 verbals and only 2 of them are from Illinois. I find that interesting. I guess it comes from having a new coaching staff that is from other parts of the country with other recruiting bases.

It’s not for a lack of offers

It's almost like NIU's media attention in this area is so bad that Illinois players don't even consider NIU. Nationally though, people are aware of NIU from the Orange Bowl, Lynch, and weeknight games. They're more aware of NIU in Florida than the Chicago media is.

So we really haven't attempted to "lock down" the state of Chicago?

It doesn’t mean that we haven’t attempted. It just means we haven’t been successful.

Chicago football has dropped preciptiously. It has fallen harder than NIU enrollment. There are still players out there and we should go after them hard, but let's not fool ourselves its way down

Illinois kids want to venture out. NIU is not a big a destination. Kids from Wisconsin and Iowa come here because it is close to home. Many Chicago area kids go to WMU because it is only a 2.5 hour drive. Parents can easily come see them play

RE: 2020 Official Verbal Thread
I really don’t care that much where the players are coming from if they want to be Huskies and they can Ball. Most of are guys getting opportunities to play in the NFL post college are not from Illinois. 1 out of the last 5 pro prospects
1. Sutton Smith - Missouri
2. Scharping- Wisconsin
3. John Corcoran - Minnesota
4. Tommy Lee Lewis - Florida
5. Kenny Golladay- IL

Who cares where they come from?

I don't really care where they come from either. I just found it interesting that so few of our commitments so far this year were from Illinois.

Thought I saw a tweet today from EDGYTIM stating that some stud DL player committed but have not seen that anywhere else.

I think this is what you may have seen.

https://edgytim.rivals.com/news/west-set...ision-date

It's not a commitment, just an announcement of a commitment date (9/21) next month.

He's a former Minnesota commit. Looks like he de-committed in May.

According to 247, he has six major college football (FBS) offers. FBS offers include: NIU, Minnesota, Bowling Green, Kent State, TURDledo, and Western Michigan.
