It's probably early in the process as the discussions are informal, but the NFL could send players needing reps to the AAF.

IMHO I think a 16 team development league (each team with an NFC and AFC parent club) would be a good thing.

This is needed, QB needs developing and this is a good place to do it.

While I agree that the NFL could use a farm league for talent but somehow I feel it cheapens the AAF as semi-pro.

Ultimately, what they'll need to do is merge the AAF and the XFL. No point in two of these leagues operating concurrently if they're not going to play each other. At that point, maybe add a few teams as well.

Anyway, the league should be operated independently, but these "loans" should work much like how they do in pro soccer. In other words, you basically trade a guy away for a set period of time. Once the period of time is over then he can return, but while he's on loan he's a full member of his new team.

I hate the idea of minor leagues where a guy can get called up at any time.

I fully expect a merger between the AAF and XFL at some point. It only makes sense. I do think it benefits these leagues to play in the Spring because even if they are viewed as a minor league, it’s not like the players will be sent up to the NFL to play during the same season. I do think there will be a farm-esque system in place which may allow fans of an NFL team to be fans of a AAF/XFL team.
