Unfortunate, he was a good coach. Anyone know the skinny?

“Lycan asked athletes not to use the N-word while using N-word,” one of the sources said.

What??

If that's true, that's some Orwellian stuff right there. Maybe a simply conversation like this: "Hey Kelly, good message, but don't use the word itself."

Political correctness will be the downfall of us all, a never-ending war of all against all. Even the most pathetic woke police are getting caught by fellow woke police lately for being insufficiently woke.

Hello, Orwell proved you can still be a socialist without getting off to the idea of a boot stamping on the face of humanity forever.

What I have heard his players we're using the N word. Doesn't make any sense.

So, he was fired for telling his athletes to not say the "N-word"?

PC controls Western like nearly every institution in the USA which accepts federal or state money. Very disappointing, Coach Lycan was a great coach. Kathy can skip me when the Gary Fund comes looking for money from here on out, I have other things I'd rather donate my money to.

Stupid to use it.

More stupid for firing someone for using it, unless they had previously been told not too, by a superior, and ignored it.

Reminds me of the Keith Dambrot situation at CMU a generation ago. CMU overreacted to a one-time use and nobody came out of it looking good. Dambrot eventually dusted himself off and has done very-very well. CMU basketball paid a heavy price for about a decade for its PC absolutism (which remains alive and well on that shabby little campus).
