Their football fan base is sadder than ours. In fact my group will have A couple ISU grads with NIU gear on

Just like the large group of NIU students who had Iowa Gear on at the Iowa game last year. ISU's average attendance was 11,440 compared to our 11,291 in 2017. Not bad for a stadium that seats 13,000.

This is the game of the year for them. They'll be fired up. Hopefully they aren't as big of clowns as the WIU fans.

Did that happen? I remember not being able to get NIU block tickets, going to Kinnick, and being baffled why there were about 50 Iowa fans between the 2 upper corner NIU sections.

Yeah but give them weekday games and see what that does to season ticket sales.
ISU fans are depressed and calling for their AD’s head as their marquee program in basketball continues to circle the drain extending their 21 year NCAA drought. There’s talk of boycotting among their fan base. Still, this will be their Super Bowl and I expect them to come out of the woodwork.

Why would NIU be their Super Bowl? The ISU fans I have talked to aren't that excited about it, they feel the MVFC is equal to the MAC, thus their conference games are much more important. If given choice of beating NIU or NDSU, they all say the Bison.
Now when they play Illinois or Northwestern, thats a different story

Says the ISU fan who keeps getting banned and re-registering on sites so he can troll NIU on multiple platforms. I think you’re Exhibit A.

If that was directed towards me, it would be a stretch to call me an ISU fan, rather someone that follows NIU, ISU and the Illini somewhat equally as those are the places I have went and have kids attend or attending.

Probably true. Schedule gets a little worse each year and no one in leadership positions seems care at all. We deserve this.

Give us your grand solution oh wise one. With a broke state where you getting those extra millions of dollars that FSU, Michigan, etc are giving NIU? Your pocket?
As for Weekday games? You think people will flood to an NIU Saturday home game in November when it’s 20 degrees out against Kent State? Sure you will see maybe 1-2 thousand more people but is that enough to off set everything? Attendance is down across the country. It’s jot just a MAC problem. So let’s hear your solution. How will you save NIU from financial trouble.

He’d get rid of Frazier. Everyone knows if Sean shook just a few more fan hands at the Huskie’s basketball games, NIU football would have 25k in attendance at every game.

Do you really think ISU fans look at their game with NIU as being that big of a deal? Most feel its an instate game they can win and a good measuring stick as they prepare for their conference schedule. From NIU's perspective, its a chance to have a good crowd and prepare for the P5 schools they will play the next 3 games.
Win, win for everyone.

ISU gets one FBS school a season. Of course they give more juice to that game. Add to that the fact that NIU is considered the directional school powerhouse in state, and yeah, they’d want to win this game badly. Similar for NIU when playing NU as far as in-state football respect.

For the 2020 game in Champaign or few years ago when they beat Northwestern, what you say is true, playing NIU doesn't carry close to the same weight. With the way the schools in general are going, ISU fans think of NIU as a lesser school regardless of them being FBS.

It's kinda funny considering how bad Illinois has been and the fact that NIU beat Northwestern the last time they played - at their place of course.

But playing a MAC school is not a big deal when there is very little difference between the MVFC and the MAC, despite the FBS/FCS thing. Playing a Big Ten school is a big deal, just like when NIU plays Nebraska or Northwestern.

Yes you. Obviously. You’re clearly this jon99 guy on the ISU board (and formerly on here) because your posts in the conference realignment thread and his on RBF are very similar. (Most ISU fans wouldn’t take your NIU derangement bait BTW to their credit.) If GTS wants to keep you around that’s his prerogative but you’re clearly lying.
https://csnbbs.com/thread-870382.html
“And since this is a sports board, the biggest fatality of this could be NIU football, with their enrollment down 40%, has to be killing their athletic budget, basketball is drawing about 900. not good“
“I would also dump money into Illinois St and create that second flagship school, would benefit the entire state.”
https://redbirdfan.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1308
“They are a directional school with 13K undergrad and weak academics, whose athletic budgets are about equal and is currently drawing 840 per basketball game.”
“The state of Illinois needs to start pumping more money into ISU, even if that means allowing schools like EIU, WIU and NIU to be shut down, it is crazy that a state our size doesnt have two big time public universities. Which other big states don't? Any?”
