Haven’t been on the site for a long time, so just catching up on KSU Athletics. The situation that you describe, Dave, is troublesome. You have always struck me as someone who tries to be fair. Haven’t always agreed with you, but never questioned your character. The situation must truly bother you to bring this to public attention.

I supported Joel’s appointment, and frankly thought much of the initial
grumbling was a consequence of a transition between leaders. As much as we all love and admire Laing for many good reasons, changes in KSU athletics were needed. If I was wrong then for dismissing the complaints, don’t want to make the same mistake twice. And, as much as I believe your views and motives, Dave, don’t want to act on a second hand account. Are public records available for any of this?

Cleveland State just hired a new AD, Scott Garrett, who has a history with KSU. Hired with a base salary of $185k per year to oversee 18 sports programs. Quite a descrepancy compared JN who oversees 17 (or 19 if you split indoor/outdoor track & field).

There is a big difference between Kent and Cleveland. Not only does Kent have a football team but they spend $30mil/yr compared to Cleveland at $13mil/yr.
Kent also has 348 students to Clevelands 243. I'm sure Kent has more coaches and staff on payroll as well.

So if we cut football to D2 we won’t have to pay the AD as much?

KSU93, unless there has been a rule change I missed, since KSU plays DI basketball they can only drop to FCS. [/b]
