RE: Cooley Law School in USAtoday article
Cooley's history and reputation predated WMU's association by many decades. I personally know attorneys from Cooley who took the bar so many times that most of their friends and family lost count, and in one case it was nine times. There is a noticeable difference in "the average" Cooley lawyer as compared to the average non-Cooley lawyer. Having said that, Cooley does graduate some very competent lawyers too, but those are generally the ones who could have attended other schools, but went to Cooley for other reasons. They admit far too many students who shouldn't be admitted to law school, and then allow them to graduate, meaning not enough are being dropped through attrition. And, sadly, far more lawyers come from Cooley than any other Michigan law school. In rural Michigan it seems most lawyers are Cooley grads.
WMU should have only associated with Cooley if it had a high priority agenda to radically change Cooley and how it does business. This will hurt WMU's reputation; and it should. I still dont understand it. But someone better step up and pursue change now.

My mom attended Cooley and passed the bar the 2nd time. An education is what you make of it.
