FWIW, A friend of mine played at MSU, coached for Jud, worked summer camps for Izzo, remains close to him-program.

I asked him why Spartans won't play us.

He said no reason that he knows of.

Because UM played WMU $95,000 last week to come to AA. Izzo and Hawk are good friends maybe Izzo doesn't want to "buy in" WMU?

Coach Montgomery was on Izzo's staff for 10+ years.

I don't think we've played MSU since mid-'80s when they used to have the Spartan Cutlass Classic (two-day) tourney over Christmas.

Maybe when we fired ex-MSU assistant Vernon Payne (who never had a winning season in seven years here) had something to do with it.

But don't really know.

I remember a late 90s game against them. But it’s been radio silent since then.

MSU actually quit scheduling our Broncos when Payne was WMU HC not later. Payne coached WMU from 82-89

WMU played MSU every year from 1963-85.
Since then the only game was 1998 in the MSU Coca-Cola Classic early in Izzo’s HC career

Who says it is MSU that doesn't want to play us anymore?

I suspect we won't schedule them because they won't give us a 2-for-1 (or even 3-for-1) in our little bandbox home venue.

MSU has played at EMU and (I think) CMU recently.

MSU hasn't played at Mt. Pee since 1979.

They played at EMU in 2011 but Eastern's Convo Center seats 9500 or 4000 more than our arena.

Major, Did Dantonio not come to our little band box football stadium just a few short years ago??? Don't go overboard defending those turds in Lansing..

Apples to oranges. And as I recall the state legislature had something to do with that.

They also took the game @ EMU in exchange for not having the planned FB game there.

Recently heard MSU will play 2 for 1 if the 1 is at VanAndel Arena.
