Well whats he supposed to say when they don't give any effort on rebounding a miss, closing out their man, dribbling into traffic and having the ball stripped. He is obviously frustrated because I'm sure he is hearing excuses in the huddle, instead of owning the mistake and moving on mentally.
You can't coach effort.
Sure you can...You don't have to look any further than our former coach to see that you can indeed coach effort. McGrath stepped into a tough position in following Keatts...It was easy (at least for me) to see that McGrath does not possess the trait of some successful coaches that have the ability to coach kids up and have them willing to run through brick walls. This was an embarrassing loss...Hopefully the kids rebound from it and get back on track before conference play begins.

The deal is you should never to coach effort or attitude but at times all coaches will run into this. As far as 82 goes and his comment about CB I see it as more of the same. He Has had a strong opposition to CB from day one. He is the coach and is doing the best he can with what the former coach left him. He had a empty class of recruiting and the best returning offensive player went with the former coach . If you have a problem with a coach it should be the guy that left it the program in shambles.

Doesn't really matter what you think, does it? I do not like coaches who constatly critize their players. Period. McGrath has done it from the beginning and I didn't like it then. It's a bad part of his personality. He needs to man up and take some of the responsibility for what is happening on the floor and quit throwing his players under the bus, he's the HEAD COACH. Less talk and more action. If he doesn't like what's happening, HE'S in charge and HE'S responsible. Nobody else.
Blame the players, blame the previous coach. Neither of those will get you anywhere, so good luck with that.

I generally always appreciate your perspective on here mullet but you can’t blame Keatts for C.J. and recruits leaving. Bass chose to risk that with the CB hire and made it clear he didn’t want to consider Siddel. You can’t blame Keatts or those kids for leaving. Bass didn’t handle it well when it turned around and bit him either.
You think Satterfield won’t take recruits to Louisville in football? App will probably be smart enough to retain enough staff so it’s not a free fall in losing recruits and they’ll maintain the incredible culture they’ve built.
In terms of talent though. What did Keatts have his first year. A bunch of Buzz recruits besides Talley. Spruill was lead guy on that team. They competed the first year.

You 100000000% CAN blame KK for taking CJ. That’s a scumbag move but I digress(we have been down this road far too many times). Last year CB kinda had a pass IMO. But he brought in some decent recruits and there is enough talent on this team that we should not be losing by 43 to another mid major, ranked or not. You absolutely CAN Coach effort and you CAN effect attitude, sometimes you have to go to extremes to make that point(starting last 5 guys one time for example) there are ways to get these things done. Other coaches deal with the same garbage, some can get through it, some can’t. The entire year and 1/2 of the CB era has been one step forward, 2 back. Things need to change and quickly otherwise, some of these good recruits we have gotten are going to go somewhere where they can not get blown out by 40 on the reg.

Heard that today on the CB McGrath Show, Matt Elmore was named player of the week. I didn't see the game Saturday, but saw he had 8 pts 2 boards. I see he was in 12 min. Maybe the extra time in the game helped him get into the flow.
Also wonder how much playing time Garry would be getting now with Brown and Gadsen out.

Brian Mull's take on the Furman game via twitter...
"I covered a number of teams over there that routinely lost games to other mid majors by similar margins. And in each case it indicated a larger problem. Maybe this game is just a anomaly."
Take that for what you will but that game was embarrassing. Thought this team was really close to putting everything together. Looks like I was very wrong.

We need to do something about our help-side defense. I see that as an issue.

An "anamoly" would be if we were a top 150 defensive team and that happened. We're not. We're not even top 300. This is the norm, not the exception.

I didn't get to see the game, but it is a disappointing result for certain. I gave CB a pass last year, so to speak, and I was pleased with the improvement we made during the second half of the season last year. Hopefully, we see a similar jump (beginning this week).

Furman fell from 23rd to 24th in the AP Poll. I wonder if they're the first ranked team to win every game in a week, beat a Division I team by 43, and fall in the AP Poll.

Evan, Idk if you're trying to troll us or something but I for one don't appreciate it. I'll give you a couple of stats to look up... Which school currently in the CAA holds the most conference titles in men's basketball? How many does Hofstra have? You don't have to get back to me because I know both the answers.

Don't let it get you GM. I have a funny feeling he yelled from the basement to mother for pizza and she brought him a cold hot pocket. He decided to take that frustration here. I can tell you who won't beat us by 43 this year. Starts with a HOF and ends with STRA.

RE: @ # 23 Furman - Saturday, 4 PM
Furman didn't drop in the polls because they played us. Nova's loss to Penn probably hurt them in the polls more than anything. Our RPI is higher than any team they have played since beating Nova, so we didn't hurt their SOS.
That said, it's ironic for a fan of another mid-major program to celebrate a mid-major program struggling for national respect despite their record. Oh well, it probably won't ever matter to the Hofstra program anyway.

I don't think EvanJ was intending to troll. He's just reeeeealllllly into numbers. If you read any of his other posts on other boards, that's all he really ever comments on.
Annoying, sure. Trying to incite anger? Nah.

That's pretty much been my reaction to most of his posts.
I like numbers and all, but EvanJ reminds me of the stat guy from Little Big League, who pointed out things like a player's "batting average against left handed pitchers faced at home for the first time in the last month of the season".
