amazing to think if they had fouled Georgetown up 3 with 5 seconds to go in Jamaica- they probably win that game- and are at least to the fringe of the bubble right now.

Ironically, the last time the Bulls had this record, they ended up making the tournament, and lost to Georgetown in the first round. Alonzo Mourning.

That 91-92 team was fun to watch, i went to several games that year.

Even though USF's schedule has been as soft as a roll of Charmin, they're realistically stupid close to being 20-2 right now. In addition to that Georgetown game, they lost one other OT game (at Temple) and two other games (Citadel and Tulsa) where they either had a last minute lead or on a buzzer beater 3. Those other 2 losses are both by single digits to teams currently ranked (Houston and Cincinnati). It won't happen, but Gregory should at least be on the short list for coach of the year. It feels like the stink of the Orlando Antigua era is finally starting to go away...

Your team is the kind of team that if they could make the NIT and go on a run there could really help set them up for a huge 2019-20 season.

An NIT bid would be like giving a Saltine to a man dying of hunger. We'd be thrilled.

Wow, that is cool. I didn't know that. Rarely get back to Tampa for a hoops game these days.

Dobras is of course a USF all-time favorite, it was a blast having him from 90-92 and he's responsible for many of the best moments we have ever had on the court. But that team was a real unit - Fred Lewis, Gary Alexander, Bobby Russell, Derrick Sharp - it was a well rounded team front court and back court. Only thing it lacked was a real physical presence in the middle at a time when that was a much more important part of hoops.

Plus, IIRC, we were in the Metro Conference that year, and the Metro was also a lot of fun. Tulane, Louisville, and UNCC had tough teams, it was a competitive league. And i remember watching us play USM and noting how good Clarence Weatherspoon was, his body was just so *wide*, it did not surprise me when he went on to have a long NBA career.

I know you know all this, but it's been fun typing it out, reminiscing about good times back then. 04-cheers

the wheels have come off for Saint Louis.... Got throttled tonight @ St Joseph's 91-61. lost now 5 of 6 games. But the 1 game they won was Dayton, the 3rd best team in the A10.

fwiw, the guy who is the #2 bracketologist has USF even right now as only the 14th team out of the tourney(the NCAA one). If they can win tomorrow vs ECU, the following 4 games will be huge. @ UCF, Temple, @ Houston, and UCF. Go 2-2 in those 4 and all of a sudden USF is 19-8 with 3 games left and favorites in all 3 games. Get a win or 2 in Memphis and they could be awfully interesting...

For maybe the first time ever, USF vs UCF is shaping up to be a reasonably important hoops game this week.

Honestly, I think he's about the same. But you could lose some bad games in the A10 with the regional ties and travel schedule and it not hurt you so badly because there were so many teams from the A10 in the RPI top 100.

They needed that win against Cincy.

As for the A10, that second bid is for VCU only if they can't get the AQ. The way VCU's schedule lays in front of them, there's no reason they shouldn't go 8-0, but 7-1 is still probably forgivable (looking at either of those games in Dayton or at Mason's court) ahead of the conference tournament. And maybe the A10 is bad enough that someone steals the AQ from VCU outright, but if VCU is either in the semi or the final, it's going to be very tough to overlook them as an at-large, even if as one of the play-in teams (since we've seen Texas and Temple both fall there in Lunardi's brackets this season).

If you don't want a second A10 team in the tournament, hope for Texas and Temple laying big turds down the stretch. Those are really the only wins VCU have to hang its hat on. Meanwhile, St. John's is hoping they all stand up, since that VCU win is propping them up higher than maybe they should.

So, I might be rethinking Michigan as the likely national champion after last night. But how ridiculous is NET? Penn State is 70. KenPom has them at 58. 9-15.

Your stats are broken.

Not laughable but #15 Texas Tech is absolutely killing Oklahoma St in Stillwater. Up 35 with 15 minutes left

No doubt Texas Tech is the best P5 team in Texas and Oklahoma. I hope we make another Elite 8 run with a possible shot at the Final 4.
