Watched GCU exhibition game...
GCU won 97-60 over MSU Billings

GCU is highly skilled, has good size and depth. I am just wondering who is quick enough on the GCU team to guard AJ Harris?

This season will be a clashing of wills between GCU and NMSU. NMSU has mostly small very quick guards and GCU has a good size and good skill on the perimeter. Who will exploit who's weakness? Can GCU's defenders stay in front of NMSU's quick guards? Can NMSU's smallish guards disrupt GCU's taller highly skilled shooters?

BTW, Utah Valley won 88-70 over Dixie State.

I thought these things were so secret that they needed armed guards to keep curious people away, and that leaks of information about a scrimmage would result in NCAA sending in black helicopters to capture the AD for questioning.

UTRGV's are so secret they don't admit they had any....

GCU's super-secret scrimmage was last Saturday versus UTEP (100-74 Lopes win, allegedly). Last night's game was a public, scheduled exhibition. No water boarding of Mike Vaught necessary.

I think it will come down to the post players which team rebounds better and how NMSU uses screens in the game. Can the NMSU guards create enough space to work with or will GCU with their taller guards recover or switch fast enough to still play their quality defense? Cat and mouse.

Thanks. Age is affecting my reading comprehension. Too bad about the waterboarding.

RE: Watched GCU exhibition game...
After UNLV's game against MSU Billings last night, GCU's performance a few nights ago bodes well. GCU beat MSU Billings by 37 points (97-60). Last night, it took a last second shot by a Menzies' led UNLV team to beat MSU Billings by 2 points (83-81). UNLV did not look very good and MSU Billings looked much better than last Tuesday against GCU. MSU Billings rained thirteen 3-pointers against UNLV's defense.

Thanks for this update Pistol. This report does boost my hopes a bit for this Lopes season. However, there is always so much hype surrounding GCU each season that I am still reserving judgment. Now if GCU goes out and beats South Dakota State on Tuesday (breaking SDSU's 20 game home win record) then I believe we may be looking at a very promising season.
