We always get out-coached at halftime on the offensive side of the ball. This week in the 3rd quarter,we kept trying to run at 9 men in the box. That is how you DON'T control the clock, because you want get a frickin' 1st down!

I'd love to see the second half start with fifteen scripted plays as well... that are radically different from the first half game plan. Let them make adjustments at the half, and then don't play into them. Put *them* back on their heels and let them worry about their adjustments instead of it being us doing it.

The only reason teams don’t do that in college is that there isn’t enough practice time.
The scripted plays are the ones that they give a lot of reps to during that game week and there are only so many reps to go around.

As a sports commentator explained, in college you practice (in limited practice time) until you get it right. In the unlimited practice time in the pros, you practice until you can't do it wrong.
The reason for the "voluntary (unsupervised) practice" time in the offseason in college is the restricted hours (about 15 hours per week?) that coaches can actually teach the 100+ members of the team. I believe this time includes supervised workout conditioning.

RE: UAB's Offensive Woes...
Charlotte had the ball virtually the entire third quarter and didn’t score a point. I am so glad we finally decided to hire a defensive-minded HC, because they win titles.

I never thought I’d see the day UAB was ranked 1st nationally in passing yards allowed after four games. Neither did Eric Schumann.

I don't want to get too excited just yet. We haven't faced a team that throws the ball like LA Tech, UNT, or USM. Those are the top 3 passing teams in the conference right now. Also, our DL has been having its way with weaker opponents. LT's OL will be the best we've faced this season.
