MyBB Mercer and Alcorn State added to schedule.
UAB will be hosting Mercer to open the season on November 6th, and Alcorn State on December 18th. Per @TheD1Docket on Twitter.

That's a step in the right direction. When is young Harris available?

Seriously inseason home and home with Kentucky, with the game in bham at the bjcc might work. Cal could recruit the Mr brook kid. If not Kentucky a team who travels well and is also recruiting the my brook kid.

Seems like there's not too much excitement, but I'm a big fan of getting Mercer to come to Birmingham. Would love to keep a series going with them.

Mercer KenPom over the past 5 years:
2014 - 87 - Upset No.3 Seed Duke
2015 -185
2016 - 182
2017 - 145
2018 - 154

Hopeful but would also be nice if this opens up UAB to some more games against SoCon teams. ETSU and UNCG would be good matchups with their coaching staffs.

This is a great series, should help with GA recruiting too.

Mercer is the type of team we should be targeting. I’m not opposed to a home and home with them.

Alcorn State is a trash game.

UAB would do well to play more OOC games out of region as well. How well are we doing in developing out of regional games on H&H basis? Going to GA and MS is not going to help establish a national brand name for the Blazers.

We aren’t a national brand. Going to play at Fresno state does nothing for us at the moment. Playing and beating the schools in our region will help with recruiting more than anything.

Need to do both. Play regional and National.

And international.

And hell, interstellar too.

We really aren't doing enough to establish our name as a universal brand.

The Mercer game is a decent game, Alcorn State is not.

Belmont would be decent, Miss Valley State would not.

Add Ga State or southern, with south ala and we may have something. I wouldn't mind an inseason home and home with South, not Troy tho. Would also go on the road to usf or ucf for the Florida recruiting efforts.

I definitely like the Mercer game...the first ever meeting I believe.

Then maybe some from Belmont, Lipscomb, Charleston, UNC-Ash, UNC-Green, Ga Southern, Chattanooga, Ga State, Winthrop, South Alabama, Samford, Jax State

Stay out of the SWAC!

Some of you sound as snobbish as P5 fans. Complaining that P5 schools won't play us yet, at the same time, not wanting to give the time of day to D1 schools on a lower rung.

I don't want to see any more games against D2 opponents, but I see nothing wrong with an early season game, or two, against a SWAC level opponent.

Exactly. You want to play at least two of those opponents but not a whole OOC schedule full of them. Say No to DII unless it's an exhibition.

Oh and we won't be playing USA this season but the coaches are discussing a home and home starting the following season. That series should happen.

RE: Mercer and Alcorn State added to schedule.
I’m fine with a game or two against SWAC opponents. We want to talk about getting tournament eligible again, or getting a second CUSA team in, but our schedules aren’t helping.

Last year we played 282,350,239, and 349 OOC
The year before 345,351, and 320
The year before 264, 293, 309, 287, 324

I didn’t even include teams like Stephen f Austin and Chattanooga that just appeared to have one off years when we played. We are immediately putting ourselves so far behind when we have 3-5 of these games a year. We can do better, and we should expect better.

Some SWAC games are necessary for scheduling regardless.

On average though it is necessary for all in the conference to bump up their out of conference RPI.

Still will be difficult to get 2 bids though.
