Would it help in RPI if the OOC and conference games were spread through the whole season like it is in football? This arrangement might help such conferences as the C-USA who presently risk having to play several bad (RPI) opponents in their last games.

That's not a bad idea BNB fan. Coach Bartow (& CBS TV I presume ) used to schedule a late season out of conference heavy weight for us BITD.

Memphis, South Carolina, Michigan, DePaul, Temple, WVA, BYU, etc.

The ACC-B1G and SEC-Big 12 challenges do a good job of accomplishing this. They're a couple of weeks into conference play, and did a good job of giving SEC momentum. SEC was viewed as a bad conference until it won the challenge, then it started getting tons of hype. I know I've seen people kicking around CUSA-Other Conference challenges, it's probably just difficult to find another partner conference.

EDIT: UABSports.com has it posted now. I may have missed this, but does anyone know who UAB's travel partner is?

Think we've done it before under Davis, we played Duke late in the season.

No we haven't. Maybe after the first of the year, but never after Conference play starts.

I don't think we have had a nonconference game after conference play started since we've been in CUSA

Welp the time is now, should really help this squad playing in an hostile environment late in the season.

I don't think we have had a nonconference game after conference play started since we've been in CUSA

In 2009 we played Louisiana - Lafayette after our 3rd game of CUSA play. (HCMD)

In 2001 we played Centenary after our 10th game of conference play. (HCMB)

In 1997 we played Chattanooga after our 8th game of conference play. (HCMB)

In 1996 we got blistered at Tulsa and at Duquesne after our 2nd & 10th games of conference play. (HCGB)

The rest were Coach Bartow's schedules 1995 & prior and he nearly always played one or two a season, either to fill in a conference oversight or scheduling dilemma.

Only if they change the definition again. The Quadrants have been well defined. C-USA schools have trouble scheduling Q1 & Q2 games. Now the top 5 teams will have 4 built-in games in Q1/Q2.

John Calipari said he would be in favor of ACC’s proposal to increase to 72-team NCAA field if “the 4 (additional) spots would go to mid-majors or lower-level schools” and not to get more power league teams in field

Calipari's ironic humor has always been underrated.
