RE: Heather doing well for herself...
Admintingly I feel Heather Lyke awakened a sleeping football program. She made a perfect football hire for EMU, initiated the CBP and was going to get basketball on track. She also seemingly hired a great staff (Spears, etc). My only complaint with Lyke is that she should have cut the sports right when she got to EMU. The timing would have been perfect right after the Ron English dismissal. We got to STOP the athletic negativity!!!
I'm luke warm on Wetherbe....jury is out on him and Smith.

RE: Heather doing well for herself...
In my opinion Heather was probably the best AD EMU has had since Gene Smith whom she trained under at Ohio State. She weathered the HBO storm, hired Creighton and developed the Championship Building Plan. Should she have "right sized" the athletics program as well? Yes, but no one makes 100% correct decisions.
Wetherbee, on the other hand appears to be more of a marketing guy and less of a director, which is common place in today athletics. He certainly has not been near as accessible in the recent basketball season as Heather was. She was a fixture in the Champions Club suite and rubbed elbows with everyone there while I only sighted Wetherbee and conversed with Scott during a common restroom break down the hall from his office. The jury is indeed out.
President Smith, however, seems incredibly dialed in. He has made clear and concise decisions that have been unpopular but he has not wavered in the least. I feel great about him.

I know NOTHING how the decision was made RE: Smith, but I'd guess BOR wanted someone who would make the tough decisions. EMU has been treading water financially for some time and he seems like a numbers guy who understands financial issues and knows how to address them.
