RE: Pew: US Media Bias Ranks Worst In The World
We are much more polarized since Reagan dumped the fairness doctrine. You have to see that. You have to. The fairness doctrine would help that out. It would be a tool.

It would be a tool for one side to force its viewpoint on the rest of us. Just like my neutrality enforced by a committee of bureaucrats would be.

I don't care if they cut it..and..I don't believe it should be funded through the theft of people's labors. I believe there are enough followers like myself that already contribute voluntarily and more that would...if that funding was cut. PBS should be allowed to stand on its own. I fully believe it could.

For the record, how much of PBS funding in total comes from the federales, how much from states, how much from private individuals, and how much from corporate donors?

445 million over two years from this article. .012 percent of the federal budget. Peanuts. 1.35 per taxpayer per year.
11 percent but they are able to leverage that.
But from a leverage standpoint, PBS says it’s pretty important. Each federal dollar local stations receive generates roughly six dollars from local sources as a type of bargaining chip, according to a coalition of public broadcasting stations, producers and viewers.

Nice work Owl...I had no idea just how small government funding of PBS and NPR(7%-1%) is. For sure both can function perfectly well with zero theft involved. It is also an indication of why both are the most unbiased news outlets.

What’s scary is that some insane percentage of new news jobs (like above 85%) are located in DC and NY.

That ship sailed 30 years ago and with the proliferation of media, there is no hope of going back.
In all honesty, with a thin skinned nut like Trump in office, I'm happy its not in place. Trump, just this week, called for our libel laws to be rewritten because they limit his ability, as President, to sue the press. Scary stuff.

No kidding. Mach, you are the biggest homer I know on this site and your above posts display it.
In fairness to Fox they were not the ones to start it but they are the ones that made it a huge success. So now you have all gold diggers on both sides fighting for thie slice.
