RE: NEW stadium construction
I don’t see any workers today, in my experience if there is bad weather in the forecast you work on Sunday to make up for potential lost work time.

Rain is scheduled to begin early this afternoon.
S.B Ballard has loads of experience at this kind of thing. I understand the anxiety some have as they seem to be behind the schedule per the computer generated video. I have some too, but I’m sure they will bring this baby in on time. They have a lot riding on this, it is their namesake stadium after all.

Yep we should be more concerned how that butt ugly endzone and that god awful scoreboard are gonna look when finished than the schedule. They have been at this construction thing for a while and they know how to make up for lost time etc.

Crane operator and several others were there. They were working on the inside of the tower.
Wonder how much that crane operator makes? Looks like a pretty skilled job to me.

I thought we were getting a new scoreboard and turf this year, as that money was set aside separately and not part of the build out costs. Did that change?

My bad yes we are getting a new board and turf which will not be coming from the 65 MM allotted for the refurb. One thing i am not sure is where they are gonna put the new scoreboard but that endzone is going to be an absolute eyesore until its gone.

Hoping the ROTC Building gets demolished as well when the North End Zone is Redone. It will end up pretty close to the new East Stands.

The scoreboard isn't getting replaced until we do the NEZ renovation. The new board will be placed behind the new NEZ.

I have been told that the field will be replaced after the '19 Season to protect the new turf from the construction mess going on this year. As far as I know that is still true. We were also told the money for that is separate from the Stadium rebuild money. On the scoreboard the situation keeps changing and is very *fluid so I don't know if it is coming this Fall or not. *(shout out to the wonderful weather we have been having.) Oh and to be fair, allow me to add the last article I saw (last November?) did say they would be replaced this year

Obviously I could be wrong, but it was my belief the field is to be replaced this year.

Supposed to have scoreboard and new turf this year. https://pilotonline.com/sports/college/o...f6ec5.html

With students moving to sideline seating and if ticket sales are down section 111 & 112 will be covered with an ODU logo tarp.

That makes sense because i don't think they will be placing a brand new at the current location and risking damage when the end zone construction begins. I hope we get to the end zone replacement ASAP.

RE: NEW stadium construction
It seems to me that both the new turf and the new scoreboard will be part of Phase 1.2 (or whatever you would like to call it) of the stadium which should happen at the end of the 2019 season. The demolition of the NEZ and the construction of its replacement would pose as much a risk to both as the present phase. The current phase is pushing the limits of time as it is, so there was obviously no way the NEZ job could have been completed in the same off-season.

Maybe we can put a huge sign on the north end zone and scoreboard says that says “not going to be here long. Please disregard the ugliness.”

Hi everyone. First time posting on this forum.

Do you guys think that the new turf will match the turf pictured in the seating chart of the new stadium?

They have also started on the East side now, starting at the north end of it.
