Or maybe it's not that serious?

Pretty fukin serious to me! I hear sh!t like that from SEC and P-5 fans I don't need to hear that sh!t from a conference fan
agree with MadEagle. i started to reply to that guys post but it was so ignorant i decided to ignore it. couple that with it being from one of those La Tech losers and i just let it go. La Tech and West Kentucky fans are some of the most delusional fans in all of college football, even though there are literally about 1000 of each. the fact that USM was picked over every other CUSA team to play Florida State shows that USM is the biggest name and brand in CUSA....and its not even close. La Tech and West Kentucky (and yes, even you Florida Ocean), can keep dreaming. you have never been and never will be as recognized and respected of a program as Southern Miss. you will be lucky if you are ever respected at all.
It probably had more to do with you guys bringing more people and selling more tickets than brand name respect
Plus fsu doesn't want to play Florida Atlantic in a down year and lose to an in state team. They'd rather play the easier cusa opponent and keep their streak of winning seasons alive

That respected brand has sure paid dividends, I guess that's why Southern Miss is still in CUSA after been passed up multiple times for conference expansion.
You're acting like a baby. Southern Miss had nothing to do with the Independence bowl not wanting LaTech. You should be upset with your team not winning enough games to be a serious candidate for that bowl. Was that Southern Miss' fault... well, YES!
The ones acting like babies are the S. Miss. fans who think their shite don't stink. The Frisco bowl is just fine with me. Good opponent and location. Could care less about the Independence Bowl. The problem is this elitist attitude coming from some of the USM fans. Go independent or wherever but please stop whining about being in CUSA. Might want to win this new version of CUSA before acting so high and mighty. Just a few years ago your team didn't even win a game in a whole season. You have several USM posters who go on the AAC forum and beg and whine like little ******* about wanting to be in the AAC. It's embarrassing and it's disrespectful to other members in CUSA.
We all hate that guy that goes in the AAC board and whines like a little biaatch.
I understand. I'm still rooting for ya'll against FSU. I'm done posting about this. I know USM fans expect the best from their football team and are very passionate. Sometimes that passion comes across the wrong way.

I have a friend who lives around Monroe and owns a sports restaurant. He loves messing with Tech fans because they absolutely hate us. Meanwhile, our fanbase is like “oh those guys”...

Southern Miss, this game is a gift because of your "brand name" and don't take it for granted.
You lost to the #1 and #3 in your division, you barely beat the #4 in your division in OT and your best win is over Marshall.
You bowl qualified on victories over FCS teams like southern, and Sun Belt cellar dweller Lousiana Monroe.
If strength of schedule was a determining factor UAB would have had a better claim to the independence bowl than USM.
If Attendance was the issue then North Texas would have been the better choice.

I agree. FSU definitely told the Independence Bowl they would not play FAU. FAU would crush FSU this year.

FAU was never in play for the Independence Bowl. FSU didn't have to say anything. The Independence Bowl reps have absolutely zero interest in FAU and the 300 fans they'd bring.

Go independent and take your crappy basketball with you. ECU is terrible at basketball too, plus football, so ya'll share a lot in common. Not all USM fans on this site are like this but to many are. I could understand bitching for a little while about your fate when you first got left out. But to still be doing it now, Jesus! Win CUSA, dominate CUSA in all sports, show you deserve better. You haven't done that and yet you think you're better than the rest of us. It makes me want to root against you when I used to root for you.

So true... You would be a ‘brand’ name if you actually won anything. You have to do it for more than a flash in the pan season. Your (major) sports program is pretty terrible. Maybe those other schools left you because they saw the writing on the wall with your teams, and didn’t want to be dragged down by them.

And this comes from a fan of a team that knows about being a flash in a pan.

Many people who don't follow college football closely don't even know half of the teams in our conference are actually FBS teams. It is what it is.
Making splash hires for the F_U schools has helped though.

We don't dominate CUSA anymore, but we certainly dominate Louisiana Tech. We are like 1,295-3 against them all-time.

I know you're upset and everything and I don't mean to turn the heat meter up a notch but La Tech can't hold our jock...it's been that way a long time and will continue. Before you go mouthing off about winning C-USA maybe La Tech should win it once?
