Not sure if serious.
It will depend on this hire more than anything and I said is becoming the question. Trust me no more a Baker critic than me but both started out strong and following the same trend downwards after their first good hires.
Baker whether pressured or not made the PJ hire we got two NC's out of that. He handed to Sewak and that was ok he did have a .700+ winning record then we all know what happened.
TK hired Monken IIRC that was good then hired Fritz which got us the best transition in the since the Marshall rule changes now we all know what happened.....Some things would have happened with or without him as far as off the field Keel wanted the move to the FBS that is the only opinion that mattered.
Lets also not mention on his public twitter account having porn likes and did not take it down for weeks or how talked down to us and stating that being mad at being winless was us being disillusioned. The only thing he has been unfairly criticized about is the scheduling thing that has less to do with him and more to do with a bunch of other factors. If the rumors are correct that is being solved to an extent. He hides out when things are awful then wants all cameras on him when things turn around. Plus just shave it man you can only comb over so far.
Keel essentially hired Monken. Had it been left up to Grube and Baker I'm about 99.7% sure Monken would have taken another job he was under consideration for.
TK didn't arrive until November 2013, at which point Jeff was already nearing a year on the job.

My bad my head said check the timeline on that, just ASSumed. Some other things make a lot more sense now. Like Davis not being interviewed which is complete BS. Gets him closer to Baker now.
Oh and forgot all about the lawsuits....

Wasn't it Nov 2012?
Which meant Monken would have been on the job almost 2 years at that point.

Yeah, I don't know what I was typing. TK started in 2012. Monken and him only overlapped a year is what I was trying to say.

Why dont we all agree we wish Monken was still here and TK was not....lol I really hope our next AD has more Keel type traits than ego maniac. Herbert is a dud for athletics but that is just a part of his job you can tell the man has no real passion like Keel did and still does for GS.

Way too premature and soon to throw dirt on Hebert's legacy or direction regarding athletics. He has been on the job only a year and a half, and considering all of the consolidation issues that have preoccupied his time he's done the requisite work on athletics so far.
More importantly (and behind the scenes), Hebert has orchestrated a new structure for the new University which positions TK's role as a direct report. Don't underestimate that and also understand it puts TK on the mat from an accountability standpoint as well as gives him leverage he didn't have prior.
Finally, due to the transition of Keel leaving, Bartles as an interim, Hebert arriving AND consolidation happening (including a reorganization of fundraising staff) .. we've had to delay nearly 3 years the long anticipated Capital campaign. Once that gets underway with a unified, consolidated University only then I think it will be 'fair' to lob criticisms if you see nothing worthy of activity associated with being a friend to Athletics.

Just going off first impressions, him throwing TK that contract while ignoring the actual performance of the team off his hire was a little crazy for me. I am just not getting that Keel passion and more Grube forced kind of feel. Agree to early and I have stated in other posts that the consolidation gets him a pass.

Summer's coaching record was but one single data point in a long list of measures.
A big one, for sure. But look at it this way. Let's play devil's advocate and say he doesn't extend TK there, and we end up without an AD for a period of time or Sweaney were to get promoted or named interim for an extended search that probably wouldn't begin until Jan 2018 after the primary activities of consolidation are put to bed. Then I'm almost 100% sure that Summer's would still be our coach at this exact moment.

BVG spoiled the season and really spoiled it for us recruiting wise. It was amazing how one bad season could linger, and it matured in 2009 when we were devoid of senior leadership. At least with Summers the damage was only to the W-L record. Recruiting hasn't been horrid, but at least we aren't in the same shape we were after the end of 2006.
This is correct, although the damage to GS's image is greater with Summers, simply because we're talking FBS vs. FCS. One good season can reverse that completely though, see UCF as an example.
