Not expecting a ton from ODU after that FAU game. Marshall is playing well but only beat Charlotte 14-7 so not sure what to make of this game. Im going the optimistic "Upset Alert" route

ODU 28
Marshall 24
We won 14-3, semantics...but the D has been lights out lately.
We're traditionally really good at home.
Not sure what happened in Charlotte last weekend, I didn't watch the game, but I have a feeling this one will go to Marshall.

What have you sen from our defense to be optimistic about?

Well then, your toast. Bill Legg is the absolute master of calling for the 3 yard HB Dive in 3rd and Long situations, learning from Don Nehlen in those situations.

Don't worry. You'll run it for 21 yards in that case.
I don't know if it was a wet ball, it had rained all day at Charlotte, the humidity or just Chase. But Litton was over throwing his receivers all night, something that didn't happen at Cincinnati. We may have only scored 14 points but this game was never really that close.
*Marshall had the time of possession 36:37 to Charlotte's 23:23.
*Charlotte crossed the 50 yard line 4 times 2 of those times only to the 45.
*Charlotte made it to the red zone twice, a 30 yard FG and a 33 yard FG tipped and missed.
*Charlotte had 9 1st downs and a total of 212 yards offensively.
*Charlotte had 9 drives of 6 plays or less, 5 of those were 3 and outs.
*Marshall had 2 TDs that were called not TDs, one was a clear TD, Ryan Yurachek caught a ball went out of the back of the end zone, rolled twice and then came up with out the ball, he clearly lays the ball on the ground. How that was called "Not completing the catch all the way through" is beyond me.
Was it an ugly win with only 14 points, yes. But the game was never in doubt. After giving up 37 points to NC State, Marshall has only given up 24 points in the last 3 games. That would be 0 to Kent State, 21 to Cincinnati (You could say all 21 or at least 14 were garbage points) and 3 to Charlotte. Chuck Heater has our defense playing lights out.

Idk what you saw on that Ryan Yurachek play, but the ball totally pops out of his hands and he re-catches it while laying out of bounds on his back. The refs made the right call on that play.
Marshall is back. ODU is in a rebuild, apparently. Would've been nice if they made the fans aware of that before the FAU game. There's no way Marshall screws this up at home.
I think we'll bounce back a bit on defense. Bunmi Rotimi is coming back I believe and Bunmi has to eat. Offense I expect to steadily get their **** together as the season goes on. If Lawry is back that's a game changer. Still, Marshall seems to have their **** together this year, at least defensively and good enough offensively. It's going to be tough to go into Huntington and come out with a win. That Said....
If ODU wins (presuming it's not attributable to a Marshall implosion), then there's a good chance they'll be in a bowl and a nonzero chance that they'll contend for the East title.
If ODU loses but looks good in doing so, they might salvage a 6-6/7-5 season out of this year.
If ODU loses like they have the past three games, then turn out the lights, the party's over.

You have injuries but not in a rebuild. For heavens sakes you were picked to finish 2nd in the east. Exact same thing is what Marshall went through last year. It was tough watching Marshall go 3-9 last year but what wasn't tough was knowing why. 1)We didn't start the same front OL in any game last year and 5 players were out 6 games or more with a career ending injury to Michael Selby 2)We had 4 DL players miss 4 or more games and 3)We started a secondary that was almost all redshirt freshman or true freshman with 2 JRs and 1 Soph.

That's what I saw too. Was thinking it was way out of character for him not to come up with that. Any other game he has.
