Howard game
I'd say that was a solid win against a team that beat UNLV last week.
Penalties sucked.
Offensive line looked good, as did Holly and backs.
Play calling seemed pretty good.
Defense needs work, but that wasn't an easy team to defend.
I'm happy.

I doubt it ... without the hype from Howard's first week upset, this game actually went almost as it should have ... Howard got a gift on its first TD as WR clearly committed offensive pass interference, but for some reason refs don't blow the whistle and it's a play (judgement call) that does not go to replay ...
Kent probably lost a score later when replay officials failed to take a look at a big reception (ruled incomplete) just before a KSU fumble on the next play.
Big play of the game was the missed Kent FG in the first half. Knock that in and the game is probably never really close.
Solid performance with the difference being Kent (as usual) has no home run guys on offense or defense and Howard (offensively) did.
A typical (3-4 wins) season is what it looks like.

3-4 wins should get the coach and his assistants fired. I'll be happy.

I have a feeling that was the only win we will see this season.

I agree, dannyb73. A look at the schedule shows only a couple or three games they have a realistic chance to win. I would say that the smart money would be a 1-11 season. The rosy scenario would be 4-8, and 4-8 is awful, no matter how low our expectations have become.

I'm not buying the moral victory of they beat a team that beat....
If we are serious about getting to a bowl game, a task that's not really that difficult, then we should have pounded these guys. Not squeak out a win in the 4th.
I was watching with a couple other band alumni and several times we looked at each other and nodded, as though we've seen this story before

RE: Howard game
It makes it hard to win many games when your QB has more rushing attempts than passing attempts. Navy pulls it off because of the triple option that has been in place for a long time. Even Cribbs and Edelman had more pass attempts than rushing.
Outside the first two drives with quick scores the rest of the game was beyond boring. I could feel every second tick off as I sat in the stands. By halftime most of the crowd was heading for the exits. By the end of the game 10-15% of the crowd was still there. If they can't keep fans in the stands while they are winning a game there is no way this team will bring fans in when the losses pile up. I think it is best to just cut ties mid season and start the coaching search before other teams start their search.

This win probably puts the fear of God in Lamar Jackson. He doesn't even have a famous NFL quarterback brother and he has to take us on in two weeks. Good luck kid.

The way it started I was thinking blow out, but as usual Kent finds a way to let the other team back into game and make it close. It is time for the OC to go. one of the most uninspiring offenses I have ever seen. I saw a HS team run the same O of Friday night. QB draw, QB option, QB with lead blocker. They are going to get Holley killed again this year.

RE: Howard game
Another weird start to the season with Haynes having prostate cancer, McMichael retiring in fall camp, & Ben Needham out on "administrative leave". Hopefully with Haynes returning fully this week and a few games with OJ Santiago as assistant coach for the TE's, they will have another good showing vs Marshall. Louisville will be a tough loss. Buffalo and Akron don't seem as good as the last few years and Ohio U & BG don't seem as good as advertised. Miami of OH seems better than advertised.
