I would love to never play any of those teams listed above in a bowl game. Not how you get name recognition for beating any of those teams, and even worse if you lose - like to Appy State as another example. They may be fine teams, but we don't want to help them get a better identity. I'd like to play teams that improve our "brand" recognition.

I'm fine with playing a solid MWC team in a bowl. Boise St, San Diego St, Air Force, Colorado St, Hawaii, etc... are all interesting opponents although the only expected MAC matchup is in Boise early in the bowl season which makes for a tricky trip for fans.
Also like the match ups with the AAC teams like Cincy, Houston, Memphis, etc...
Tough to motivate MAC fans for low profile bowl games against sun belt and CUSA teams unless it's like an EMU or someone who is thirsty for a bowl game.
Ideally, the G5 should coordinate to have a it's top few teams outside the access bowl play a decent P5 team in a bowl. Those games excite the fan bases at places like UT. I think even piggybacking on an existing bowl like the Music City in Nashville with a MAC-Big Ten matchup like UT-Indiana would be great.

It takes two to dance. Sure, G5 teams would like to play decent P5 teams. But, would those P5 teams be excited to play any G5 team. I highly doubt it.
And if we're throwing out "potential" match-ups. I'd rather play a Northwestern or a well past its prime Nebraska. Indiana brings nothing to the table. They haven't been relevant since.......ever.

Powers that be will chomp at the bit to schedule a top MAC against a bowl eligible Minn.

I only want SDSU if they represent their division in the title game and Boise State is in the top 25 so we get the next best available MWC.
I would love to play a La Tech or WKU but I can't exactly travel to the Bahamas.
Any SBC team in the DG bowl would be a let down because we are just so familiar with stAte and Appy now. Idaho is semi intriguing that it's their last season as an FBS member.

According to the two guys who make projections for ESPN (at least in their first projections for the season), this is what UT will get. In the Dollar General Bowl in Mobile

Conference is going to need a couple quality wins if the champ is going to be doing anything but playing App St in the Repeat Bowl. On the other hand, I do like my Dollar General candy counter.

I think it's pretty clear. UT vs the winner of the Florida State - Abalama game. See you guys in Atlanta.

the moral of the story is when on the road vs a good team if you can run the ball, keep running the ball

Yep, and especially when you have a lead.

It's still early but I don't see SEC having 11 bowl eligible teams, ACC, big10, and PAC all having 10 eligibles, and AAC/MWC with 7/8 bowl teams. That assumes nearly every team going 6-6. Possible but not probable.

Next round of bowl agreements will be interesting. Will MAC settle for Sunbelt games for champions.
As much as we don't like the opponents it is better to have multiple bowl games than the old one bowl model
