The Nationals and third-round draft pick Nick Raquet finalized a deal Saturday night, according to a person with knowledge of the situation. The left-hander out of William & Mary agreed to a signing bonus less than his $522,300 slot value as the 103rd selection and was to have his physical in Washington on Sunday.

Just marvelous statement on the quality of our program with two guys drafted in the first five rounds and signed for big bonuses. Many Power Five conference schools with nobody drafted in the first five rounds as well as none at all.

Also, drafted players who sign also get, in addition to the bonus money, guaranteed college costs paid
when they return to school. Our guys, for sure, will return...as have almost all others...to graduate.

Aaron Fernandez signs with the Tigers as an undrafted free agent.

WM lost prematurely the services of Cullen Large and Nick Raquet to the draft. Other players who signed and will not be coming back to campus:

In terms of recruits, a million dollars convinced P Matt Tabor to go pro and not attend Elon. UNCW recruit IF Greg Jones will be on campus but JUCO transfer C Robby Kidwell will not.
