That being "said", and I understand "Loozy-anar" (as we call it) is ate up with LSU, I still wonder why Tech has not established a "reasonable" fanbase ala USM...(and by "reasonable", I mean 25,000 to 30,000 fans, not bad when stacked up against SEC in-state competition.)
Tech has a long football tradition, and does well with in state recruits, so the support seems to lag far behind...
Beaver, its not what one would "like" or what we would rather have anymore. USM has its back to the wall financially and will be making whatever moves are necessary to remain stable, some will fall in line and others wont. If USM were like your friends at Tech and could draw $8-9mil out of the school and state kitty to cover losses each year then we would be fine but we cant so hang on for some changes.
So ULL brings more to the table than "my friends" (say what?) at Tech? This is the same "logic" Memphis, ECU and Toolame, long time football partners and most-time victims, use against USM.
This has nothing to do with logic, simply facts. USM revenue needs to improve and LOGIC, not emotions, dictates a change. It is a fact that ULL brings more fans to the Rock than Tech. Not saying Tech shouldnt remain in the mix but ULL is the best fit to fill our needs.

well said my friend...
Been a USM fan for over a half century, but what the heck do I know?
I say to-mah-to and you say to-ma-to and let's call the whole thing off...maybe neither one of us is right? But that's why it's a message board, everyone has to be RIGHT, right?

@ Lafayette does the same thing. Plus they are in debt for their improvements, whereas Tech has paid as you go. You have such a biased view that anything you say is dubious, at best.
Any claim you make about student fees to cover improvements is untrue, as I have stated before, that students that choose Tech know ahead of time what they are paying for.
What is your problem with Tech? Is it true you are a former employee of Tech?
Also, in your defense of @ Lafayette using Louisiana not be illegal, does not the use of Louisiana imply that it is either University of Louisiana or Louisiana University? Plus, why are they so hung up about their name? They claim Lafayette to be the greatest city in Louisiana, or the USA, or the world for that matter. Why would they not want that included in their moniker. It doesn't make sense.

Those that know and don't have a bias think differently. @ Lafayette hates their conference, have reneged on an agreement with their sister school, and knowingly commit academic fraud. Why would CUSA want anything to do with them?

The students at Louisiana Tech voted upon themselves a "student facility enhancement" fee approx 4yrs ago, $50. per qtr. That fee was used to secure a $9million dollar bond issue that was used to build the end zone project. Those were 25yr bonds. The student fee was estimated to raise about $1.2mil per year, paying off the bond requires about $650,000 per year and the rest of the $1.2mil IS BEING USED TO UPGRADE FACILITIES, PARKING, AND SOME OF THE COST OF THE NEW PRESSBOX. This fee is some of the money referred to by Tech officials when they say "other non state funds" when discussing the source of income to cover their projects. The ONLY thing a student knows ahead of time that he is paying for is the end zone project. The school is free to use the balance each year to spend as they like and if you look around you will see where it is going. Edit note: I am not defending ULL using "Louisiana" on their uniforms, just saying it isnt illegal by state rules.

And our students are thrilled that we're getting more parking, newer facilities, etc.

So they know what they are paying for. What point are trying to make? Everything you wrote shows that the students are paying for exactly what they were told.

RE: Dont know the numbers but
Quoting EE, "they (ULL) are probably twice the size of Tech (Tech had over 900 grads this Spring compared to over 1800 for ULL)."
Corrections and clarifications that speak for themselves:
1) ULL's over 1800 graduating class figure quoted by EE was actually 1,771.
2) Tech's over 900 graduating class figure quoted by EE was actually 973. If ULL had over 1,800 grads using EE math then Tech had over 1,000 since 973 is closer to 1,000 than 1,771 is to 1,800.
3) Actual Fall 2016 enrollment figures are readily available. Tech was at 12,694 including 1,391 graduate students, and ULL was at 19,188 including 1,521 graduate students.

La Tech is on the quarter system as opposed to the semester system. We have three graduation ceremonies per year instead of two. Many Tech students graduate at the end of Winter quarter at the end of February. I did that the year I graduated. Unless one is aware of this fact, our Spring graduate total will appear to be lower than you would expect. This concept is probably way over EE's head, but for everyone else it should be sufficient to explain why our Spring graduation numbers are what they are.

Tech has four commencements per year (one at the end of each quarter), and ULL has three (one after each semester).
