To be fair, in this case it sounds like the dude had the Memphis offer on the table for months

Wonder if there were any 713 misdials in Hugh Freeze's phone when Ross Donelly flipped to Ole Miss from Rice a couple years ago?

haha...I was just thinking about Ross Donelly. Sucks that we lost him to Ole Miss.

Probably not good enough for Stanford but I hope we at least looked at him.

I assume Luke is on the left - who is on the right? His dad's tweet says they have been friends and teammates since like they were 6 or 7.

Remember he was the one in the photo from page 6 of this thread. Good size for a receiver (Luke Brockemeyer on the left is 6-3). This is easily shaping up to be one of our best recruiting classes in decades if we can keep everybody.

I saw that Memphis offered QB Brady McBride. Watching his film, at first I only noticed his running skills, which are good, but in another video I saw his passing highlights and was very impressed with his motion/release/accuracy. I think he's our QB of the future unless somebody surprises this year.

McBride is no longer one of our commits. He flipped to Memphis when they offered on July 12.

In a shocking development, Delaney TE Malcolm Epps spurns the Owls for the Longhorns.

Do really think any player takes Rice seriously? Maybe the two stars who nobody wants accept the lower lever universities.

Honestly until Bailiff is gone I'm amazed we have a class at all (unless they don't have other offers). No one could attend that "football game" last Saturday and actually want to play for Rice when they have other options on the table.

Blake and Brant Kuithe of Cinco Ranch are both hurt? I was going to go see them play tonight in the playoffs against Ridge Point but I see the Chronicle preview says they have been out the last 3 weeks?

many times a hi schooler will see this as an opportunity to play quicker.

But we only win with juniors and seniors? At least that's what we have been told

Correct.

The point was that, sometimes, a better hi school player will look for an opportunity to play earlier. He still will have his best seasons as a junior/senior/5th yr. That was my experience. Personally, I was night and day better as a senior vs junior, and exponentially better as a 5th vs Sr year.

Our best team was my 5th yr, with a senior laden team that was Rice's best recruiting yr 4 years prior.

This weekend, Mr. Calderon (from QB position) accounted for 4 TD's and rushed for 354 yards on 16 carries (!) in San Marcos' bi-district win over RR Westwood.
Rattlers were down 0-29 and came back to win 64-50.
Westwood comes from one of the toughest districts in the state.
