The Decline of VCU Basketball
so, Wade's had this team now for 2 years...
milked the Shaka guys as best he could into two NCAA appearances with 0 wins.
now he's losing three starters to graduation.
With this, will FecesU fade back away post-Shaka to the where we and GMU are?

At least we have football.

Thought about that. We shall see. Another phenomenon is how poorly their ex-coaches do when they move on to power conferences.

Indeed; starting with JD Barnett who, after 2 good years at Tulsa, faded into oblivion.

Capel did fine at Oklahoma when Blake Griffin was there. Lon Kruger was good when Buddy Hield was there, then they went down the crapper this season. I think Capel will be a fine D1 head coach, though I'm not sold on him being the alleged heir apparent at Duke.
Shaka had a good year last season and a **** one this season. He got Matt Coleman, so I expect they'll be markedly better in 2017-18.
Anthony Grant never got over the hump there but in fairness Alabama is pretty spotty (Avery Johnson has led the Tide to a pair of first-round NIT losses).
Maybe the Siegel Center was built on an old Indian burialground?

Not exactly the same subject as VCU, but Keatts just accepted the NC State job.

VCU overachieved this year. They did better than the sum of the parts. No true PG, can't shoot, cox is an unskilled big man, Williams is a train wreck, Brooks and Burgess never lived up to the hype - can't wait to see what happens next. Keats had nothing coming back like Wade.....

Feces should've fallen to us this year, and we aren't very good.
Oh well, back to earth Rams!

So I've been a little behind on college basketball this year... But Shaka found a way to f*** us again!

You are nuts if you think FECESU has or will fall off. They continue to reload. Just look at there recruiting class this year. They might take a slight dip next year but they have a strong group of not totally proven players ready to take the place of the seniors they are losing.

Even if they fell off some they'll always have more of a chance to go the dance than us

I was reading FecesNation last night and was surprised that the rams feel that Wade is the favorite to fill many P6 coaching openings. Has Wade proved himself yet? Sheesh

Last night one of the Richmond news stations mentioned this and they asked Wade about it. His comment was, " We'll see what happens but at the moment I am committed to VCU for the future". Not exactly a ringing endorsement from Wade.

Let's be real. VCU has been good, but they are not Kentucky or UNC and re-load. They graduate a ton this year, so we will see what kind of coach Wade truly is. I am sure he has a good recruiting class, but they do not have the type of returners to build on that they have the past few years.

Meanwhile you just put VCU in the same sentence as Kentucky and UNC... trying to rationally put down VCU from our current vantage point is a bit sad. Let's remove the plank out of our eye before picking out a speck from theirs.

Not putting anyone down, just looking at the graduations and statistics. They graduate six, love over half their points, minutes, assists and rebounds from this year's team.

Indeed
VCU has the #35 ranked recruiting class in the Nation for 2017; 3rd best non bcs program behind only Butler and Villanova.
By contrast, ODU ranks #86
EDIT: On a bright note, that #86 is still the best so far in the JJ era, first time in top 100. VCU on the other hand dropped out of the top 50 only once, when Wade started and a number of recruits decommitted. Even then VCU dropped only to #70

If we keep going, ODU Basketball recruiting will eventually catch up to our football recruiting.
