We pretty much have them now, right? ROUND 1
CSUB - Bye
NMSU v. ChiSt
UMKC v. UTRGV
SU v. UVU
ROUND 2
CSUB v. SU/UVU
NMSU/ChiSt v. UMKC/UTRGV
FINALS
??? v. ???
Not sure how everyone else is trending, but have to say UMKC is a team I wouldn't want to face on a neutral court right now. Boyd is doing Boyd things. Newbill looked good in stretches tonight. Steward played strong. Even King dropped 15. This Roo team appears to have figured out life after Tez, and they are all doing just fine!

I think it will be Bake over NMSU but wouldn't be shocked to see UMKC in the WACT final.
Yah, UMKC is playing well right now. I'd not look forward to seeing them in the tourney. I was sweating that game out last week. I wonder 'what if...' Harrison had behaved himself and was still there.
It looks like WACt games will be spread across WAC DN (MBB & WBB RD1), ESPN3 (MBB & WBB RD2, WBB Final), & ESPNU (MBB Final), for those of us watching from home. I will try and attach the MBB bracket I found online.

If it is CSUB and NMSU in the finals, it will be a battle of wills. CSUB wants a physical grind it out low scoring game. NMSU needs a more free flowing game up in the 70's or higher; where the ref's whistles remove the physicality (grabbing, hacking, hand checking) out of the game.

Lots depends who the refs are. Some refs screw NMSU habitually and others are good at their jobs. Also, refs seem to let Barnes who bombards them with whining let them influence they way they call the game. Hopefully refs won't let that happen in tourney games that have so much riding on them.

I am not calling out any specific ref; although I was not happy with some of the calls during the GCU road game. My concern is that Cal State Bakersfield commits so many chippy (uncalled) fouls during the course of a game that the refs wind up swallowing their whistles rather than turn the game into a free-throw-fest. NMSU needs to distinguish quickly if the refs are going to call it "normal" to most WAC games or are they going to call it more loosely to accommodate Bakersfield's physical defense? If they call it loosely, NMSU defense (and offense) needs to adjust; and they have to stop whining about no calls. NMSU needs to magnify CSUB's contact (act it up) when the Aggies attack the rim; so the physical contact (foul) becomes more obvious.
There is obviously a philosophic difference between the way Weir coaches defense and Barnes coaches defense. NMSU plays a style where the Aggie player tries to stay between the offensive player and the rim with minimal contact; they try to alter shots or force bad off-balance shots. NMSU makes a opposing team "work" 94-feet to get their points. Over time the game's pace cause fatigue and NMSU pulls away. CSUB plays a style where their players bump, push, nudge, hand-check to direct the offensive player's movement. They don't care if a foul is called as long as the CSUB player is playing aggressive; they get full use out each player's five fouls. They just beat you up physically such that opposing players settle on shots outside their normal offense.

Starting to see why they are letting the WAC DN Tank!

From a WAC attendance aspect, I'm looking forward to the 2017-18 season. It will be fun to finally seeing GCU fans at the Orleans Arena. Maybe with GCU fans, NMSU fans, and the growing fan interest at CSUB and UVU, it will put the WAC tournament into a better light. It suck watching the WAC Championship broadcast in front of a more than half empty arena.

For the first time the MWC is looking at curtaining off the upper deck of the Thomas and Mack, because attendance is at an all time low.

Maybe the conference will finally realize they are not all that and will let NMSU join it someday.....

I watched UMKC-CSUB on WAC DN last week. Couldn't take the stutter. So, I flipped over to the 'Runners You Tube stream and it was much better. Yah, I know, should have looked there first but...I DO like that I can go to the WAC DN and see an array of stuff to choose from. But....if quality suffers....

I'll have to get that link from you, Runner, because there is no way I can survive trying to make WACdn work on Saturday. Haha

According to the GCU schedule, COX7 will broadcast that road game. So, if you are in Phoenix and have COX cable, you shouldn't have any problem watching the game.

Probably not because raises the cost of running it by so much and GCU is already paying to have home games broadcasted.
