The FBS invite rule wouldn't stand up in the case of public institutions either. Nobody wants Youngstown St either, but they have Tressel, Pelini, facilities, fans and a desire.
People are getting all excited. I'd be surprised if we see another.

When it happens, the Sun Belt can only blame itself, as they were the ones blocking Liberty.

Well, Delaware State, Eastern Kentucky, Alabama State, North Alabama, SFA, Northern Iowa, Illinois State and maybe Indiana State would want to do the same thing. They all mentioned wanted to be FBS as well.
If North Florida adds football? They could be a target for the Sun Belt as well.

We aren't the land of the misfit toys. We aren't open admission.
Blame us for what? Keeping our conference free from explicit discrimination against Jews, Gays, Muslims, Athiests, Buddhists, Hindus, Agnostics, liberal Protestants, etc.?

Why are you and ark30 against this? I'm missing something obvious that's potentially bad for your schools right? What is it? At least they aren't going to the SB.
Cheers!

I'm assuming you don't want EKU moving up? I understand.
Cheers!

The difference is Liberty can meet FBS standards right now with facilities, attendance, and even FCOA. Most of the schools you listed have major work to do to get up to those levels.

Eastern Kentucky, Alabama State, Northern Iowa and Tennessee State all could make the 15,000 limit. SWAC are usually the first in FCS with the best attendance records the past couple of years even though they suck.

You forgot Youngstown State, Eastern Kentucky, Sam Houston State and Lamar as well. Maybe a North Dakota State as well?

RE: Did rules change on FCS moving up without a conference?
I believe the MVC,Southland,OVC,CAA and others would ask those schools to leave their conference if they went FBS. In other words they would indirectly be forced to go Indy in ALL sports. The Big South will most likely let Liberty stay;many other leagues would not.

I actually advocated for this when Liberty was seeking SBC membership. They can make it big this way if they do it right. I wish them luck.
But I don't see this as an open doorway for all.

Only the Southland forces their schools with fb to play in the Southland. The CAA and MVC have football with a number of affiliates. There is no NCAA rule that forbids a conference from sponsoring both FCS and FBS. Of course, NCAA rules and conference rules can be changed.

I'm happy they found a way to get it done. Maybe now if they they can make it work we can finally stop talking about no conference wanting them.

I disagree. I am almost positive the OVC would ask Jacksonville St. to leave if they went FBS indy.

Liberty is like the BYU of the East in terms of support and money and now will increase that with the FBS move. They even have their own TV channel like BYU to show games on it.
Schools who play in non football conferences will have a best chance to move up as they don't disturb the conference. I think since the Big South has a few non football members they willing to keep them in the fold. Also, have to think that with the relationship with the A-Sun(?) they are good still with football since the FCS has more flexible rules.

If they were forced out the A-Sun would welcome them with open arms.

BYU TV is a free station available to people everywhere. I know because I used to watch a western tv show on BYU tv when I had no cable, or Amazon fire stick. I got the 4 major networks, PBS, Telemundo and Univision and a few Christian stations like CBN and TBN. Which one of those is the "Liberty channel"?
Cheers!
