Great job by this staff and Coach Wilder ! We secured the #34 recruit in the 757 as a walk on. This staff and Coach wilder are out doing themselves in the region. JMU, Elon, ECU, CC, and other mids got recruits over FBS ODU. What an joke !! We could't even secure a top 15 recruit. Shameful....

I guess you probably won't read this since you have made similar posts in the past, but I am going to try to nicely explain to you why this isn't a fail.

1. The kid is walking on (quick edit: this means he is not getting a scholarship to play. Not sure how much you know about the subject so just wanted to make sure it's clear)
2. The kids rated higher got scholarships to those schools you mentioned

Taking those two points together, could you reasonably come to the conclusion that maybe the kids ranked higher are still not up to "FBS ODU" standards? Just... think about it.

I know what walk on means. The point that everyone continually misses is that the 757 is known for talent. Continually, this staff and Coach Wilder has said they want to recruit and secure players from this region. The last 4 to 5 years they have failed and continually get beat out for scholarship players by pretty much everyone else including FCS programs. Now some might say they were FCS talent so we should recruit them. Many had offers from FBS level programs. Well it is obvious the "ODU FBS standards" are not getting it done. From what I have been told is that Bobby is arrogant and has essentially wore out his welcome with coaches in the area. Most coaches are not advocates for ODU or our football program. That is not good.

Keep thinking that this logic is failed and we are recruiting well when we continually are in the bottom half of CUSA recruiting ratings. Data and facts show differently.

Which local prospects did we offer and lose to FCS programs this recruiting cycle?

I also know in the past he has made promises (conditions to meet to get on scholarship) to walk-ons that never came to fruition which has trickled down to the high school ranks as well.

1. Which recruits did we offer who ended up going to an FCS school? (Credit Giles)

2. Do you want local FCS-talent to play at ODU? How far is getting a local kid here important to you? We just got one for free.

I would say keep up the negative thinking. You are funny.

I'm going to ask some of the people I know that are HS football coaches or assistant coaches and get their take. I'll report back if/when I get that feedback next time I run into them. In my short life I've learned that it's highly likely when someone is trying to make a point and they say "most" that really means a small subset or fraction of realty. I deal with that constantly. "The entire office hates this new software update!" Translation: Bob in mechanical had a issue and bitched about it. "Everyone's internet is down!" Translation: A website is down that a few people use. But the rest of the "internet" is just fine.
