I agree with you.
It seems easier to spot and find the excellent sleeper recruit in Florida than say in Michigan.
Sometime I need to review the lists of signees from the state of Michigan vs. the state of Florida.
I would guess that MI has about 50 FBS signees each Feb. I wouldn't be surprised if the number isn't say 150 - 200 for Florida.

It's kind of a way to fairly split the load. It wouldn't be fair for someone to have S.E. Michigan and someone else to have the upper Midwest or some distant land.

Actually according to d zone we offered over 25 Michigan players for 2017 its not that. We do recruit here we aren't successful. Think about it Ms um cmu and emu plus decent div 2 schools
Serious case of battered wives syndrome here.
CMU and WMU do just fine getting the leftovers from UM and MSU. But the Broncos and Chips are such big powerful brands, I guess we just can't compete? haha
We're so weak at recruiting, we even have a tough time competing against D2 schools in our own State apparently.
I guess if this is the expectation of our fans, our staff, and our AD, we're right where we deserve to be.
ETough apparently has got some gears to grind - but I continue to content we need more on-field success to negate 20+ years of losing, both on the field on in recruiting.
We will be heavy JUCO once again to make up the gap, but eventually we need to compete every year with WMU and CMU (and Toledo) for local talent, if just to demonstrate to football fans across MI that EMU football is worthy of time and $$$ every fall.

I agree. Creighton can't undo 25 years of losing but everyone should enjoy his last season because he's going to win 8 games and get hired away.

Thanks!!
Sometimes when I make a point I'm not sure about, I UNDERSTATE the point I'm trying to make (lest I embarrass myself).
MI h.s. produces about 50 FBS players per year.
FL produces about 6x as many. (I said 3 - 4 times; should be closer to 6 times).

Gears to grind? Numbers don't lie. We're still bottom of the MAC in recruiting, going into Creighton's 4th year.
I'm done talking about recruiting, because everyone here seems very satisfied.

ET,
I'm not satisfied with recruiting but truth be shared, we had a lead against WMU in the second half. Wonder what would have happened if Turner didn't fumble at the 5 yard line? We had a 21-0 lead over NIU and squandered the victory; historically NIU gave us a good shellacking the prior years. We return a top QB, talented WRs, RBs, Kilby (hopefully), and a strong defense. We are going to win 7-8 games next year and sign a lot of talented players.
I think everyone agrees with you that Creighton has to keep improving his recruiting especially in Michigan. I, for one, will not have any quarrels with football if we keep bowling every other year. Can CC get us to the Championship game? I don't know, but I am confident we'll go bowling in back to back years which is really amazing considering the football ineptitude we experienced the last 30 years.
Let's improve our local recruiting!!!

Luckily a bowl game is only 6 wins nowadays. We have 7 road games, and only 5 home games.
Charlotte, Ball State, Bowling Green, Ohio, Central, and NIU gets us to 6 wins.
Likelihood of a win against Rutgers, Kentucky, Army, Western, Miami, or Toledo? (ALL on the road except Western)
We may have a better team, but this schedule is an absolute NIGHTMARE. Just sayin.

I am not satisfied with recruiting which needs to improve but fairly happy about progress I see in the rest of the program things at Michigan state ate about to get real ugly glad we aren't getting that type of publicity

You and I agree 100%.
The 2016 schedule produced 7 wins. The 2017 schedule last year might have produced 5 wins.
I don't think anyone can deny that the 'schedule maker' was the most improved part of the 2016 season. Lyke and Spears did a great job on the 2016 schedule.
We know it today and many of us posted a year ago that it was the most favorable schedule we'd ever seen at EMU. Other than Missouri, WMU and TOL it was all winnable games.

I think it's great that we are debating whether EMU can win 8 games. We used to have the same banter over 4 wins.

Yep, I indicated before last season that I thought the Ov/Un line for EMU last year was 3.5 wins.
It was great to have 3 wins in SEPTEMBER!!!

I also think it's insanely early to think about schedules. Ohio on the road seemed like a sure loss when we talked about it in the preseason. Same with BG, who was the projected MAC East champion. Some of these teams won't be nearly as good (or bad) as we think. A lot can happen between now and the fall.

I am far from satisfied - but I've seen the progress from years past, when kids were practically apologetic for taking a scholarship to EMU. I also believe some coaches develop talent better than others - CC appears to be one of them that can coach kids up. Turn middling players into contributors, turn part-timers into starters, and so on...
I will continue to assume that the football staff is working as hard and as smart as possible recruiting future players, unless you are saying something different?
