You guys continue to completely miss the mark on priorities, but why does that surprise me when you're talking about a group of angry old men who aren't in touch with the majority of society? To hear you talk about it, Democrats are universally united in their goal to completely change our economic system.
...
But keep getting it wrong, y'all. That's the type of narrow focus that hopefully will allow us to regain the White House in 2020.

Just had one more thought. I think you have got republicans all wrong too. The idea that you can dismiss them as "angry old men" or "deplorable" is what beat Hilary in 2016, and if you keep it up you will drive away what used to be your bread-and-butter voters in 2020.

I really think 2020 will come down to which candidate antagonizes the fewest voters. That's a very sad state of affairs, but I think we've gotten to that point.

I'm not dismissing all Republicans as Angry Old Men - just you, tang and OO. Maybe it's because I just saw 12 Angry Men again recently on TV. You can choose which character you want to be - Lee J. Cobb, E.G. Marshall or Ed Begley. I choose to believe I'm the Henry Fonda character.

Old, guilty, as I hope you are old someday too. Long life to everybody. Used to be age was revered. Now it is a source of derision from the youth. You will see, when you are older, and some pimply faced teenager tells you how out of touch you are.

man, guilty, and in the Democratic society we are getting, being a man is indeed something to feel guilty about. I apologize for my maleness. But I am not changing.

Angry, nope. Dismayed, frustrated, apprehensive, all of those to some degree. But you and your kids are free to walk on my grass. I bring you lemonade. (angrily, you may think)

So what do you think I am angry about? The stupidity I see that so many cling to? I am used to it. I am not angry. Angry is the wrong word. Sorrowful, maybe.

Not everyone -- just anyone with whom you disagree apparently. You are a laugh a minute there when context is added.

By the way sparkles, I am not a Republican. Or, is that your simplistic veneer on anyone who disagrees with you? (funny how that trait keeps popping up....)

but wait, there's more

In late January, 43% of Democratic respondents said in an ABC News/Washington Post poll that it was more important to them to choose a candidate who seemed most likely to defeat Trump than it was to choose a candidate closest to them on the issues.

In a differently worded question, Monmouth University found this week that 56% of Democrats said they rather have a candidate who they don't agree on most issues but was stronger against Trump than the 33% who said they wanted a candidate they agreed with but would have a hard time beating Trump.

Seems the number who will sacrifice their principles to beat Trump is going up.

Maybe down. Amongst the candidates, I guess it is way too far out of *their* principles to tack to the center for a whole boatload easy pickup/switch votes, though.

This dash to the collective left is like a political version of "It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World" ---- almost as good comedy gold as well.

That is, if you think campaigning on the Santa Claus ticket and 'who done got the mostest repression' ticket is in any way comedy....

If I am to be cast as an Angry Old Man (AOM), are Ocasio-Cortez, Tlaib, and Omar, the leaders of your party, to be cast as Angry Young Women(AYW)?

They all seem to be angry all the time, especially the latter two.

Or does it depend on which movie you saw last night?

If so, I have some I could recommend for you.

I'd say Crazy Angry Women (CAW). Their ideas are always crazy, they are always angry, but they won't always be young.

Let the rivers burn! Let the kids go uneducated! Let the poor die of sickness!
Tanq-world sounds really bleak. I always appreciate that Owl#'s actually has ideas about how to address concerns of the citizens of this country, regardless of whether I completely agree with each of them.

Your hyperbolic rant depends upon two underlying assumptions:

1) That Tanq's approach would produce burning rivers, uneducated kids, and sick poor people; and
2) That your approach wouldn't.

History says both assumptions are flawed. One needs only look at the contrast between the capitalist west and the socialist/communist/collectivist east that confronted Germany after the Berlin Wall fell. The pollution, education, and health disasters were on the socialist/communist/collectivist side. Same across all of Eastern Europe.

That's why I propose different solutions. Mine have all worked, or are based upon principles that have worked, in real world practice. That neither D's nor R's embrace them is why I don't vote D or R.

Probably about as true as anything you hear on CNN about Trump.

IOW, probably not true.

Are you just trying to polish your Angry Old Man credentials by accusing a powerful, successful woman of being a slut?

Is there any question that she carried on an affair with Willie Brown? I thought that was a given. My understanding is that Brown himself has admitted it. And he was certainly a kingmaker, probably the most powerful man in California state politics at the time. And her political career certainly advanced while she and he were together. If that's not sleeping her way to the top, I'm not sure what is.

I actually thought more people would be upset by "Stacey the Hutt" than by "Kamala the Slut."

Yeah, OK, call me an AOM for using those names. So what, they fit.
This is piss poor.
And completely true. Or do have another, better name for someone who slept her way to the top?
Intrigued by how you think this is "true" as opposed to "suspected" or "alleged."

Sleeping her way to the top says she didn't get there on her own merits.

Her relationship may have helped at some point, but she has moved up since that original appointment without Brown's help...
