For you board members who are closest to the BB staff, how should we read this departure?

If you look in the other thread - he got a $35k raise. That is how you should read his departure.

RE: DeAndre Haynes
Please God, give me just one shred of good news coming from Kent State basketball...I know Dre' a bit and he's a great guy. I'm sure he doesn't want to leave but $30k raise is hard to to turn down. No way Dre' gets that at Kent unless Haut and Steinberg get the same.
Wonder where and when KSU finally turns the corner on making the investments that they have to make to keep the program relevant? All we hear and read about is how well the University is doing (new buildings everywhere) but all we read and hear about sports-wise is a cash strapped Athletic Dept that struggles to make ends meet. How does BG do it? They don't draw squat for football or basketball and has a smaller athletic budget than KSU does but still has much better facilities (at least for football and BB) and manages to pay their coaches more as well. They also have a damn good football team on this "shoe string budget" of theirs. Where are we going awry with our $26M athletic budget going?
KSU is pushing me away just like the Cleveland Browns have done. You can only take so much before you look for other activities and interests to occupy your free time and entertainment dollars.

What's the problem with the Browns?

If Haynes was a valuable assistant, and I have no reason to think otherwise, and the primary reason for his leaving for another MAC East school was salary, and I have no reason to believe it wasn't, then the obvious question is just when is the prioritization of basketball to begin?

Well, I thought they wanted to prioritize it, and they wanted to use it as a revenue stream for other sports, but it didn't sound like they actually wanted to spend more money on it...

they want to prioritize it but to do that they want donations not taking from other coffers.

Not that it changes much, but Toledo isn't in the MAC East.

but they are still in the MAC and that is where I have the problem. If he had gone to a P5 school no issues. I understand the $$, but I also have a problem with TOL poaching one of our coaches.

Did Toledo poach or did he apply for the open job?

Dre is headed to Illinois State. One year under Tod @ Toledo was too much to take (similar to Mincy). Guessing that should end the KSU players to Toledo experiment.

I can agree with that but truth be known, he is a pretty good coach.

His contract ends this year and most fans Coach K gone. He hasn't really done much of anything postseason wise at toledo.
