It was a very entertaining drop-in, drop-out shooter, but I think the major backlash was the fact that it is extremely light on content for a $60 price tag what with no play customization, limited map content, and no Story/Campaign mode, which given the property should have been the easiest yes vote in their planning and design meetings. But, the next Battlefront looks to have righted those wrongs and is said to incorporate much more customization. I have been a big fan of the many different game modes, and thoroughly like slashing people to bits with Luke, but I too understand the outcry for more content.
I agree with this. 4 (or 5) maps on multiplayer, it got old after a week or two of playing. I like SP campaigns, and apparently Im the only one in the world who didnt know that it didnt have one when buying the game (I know, my stupidity). It looks good, and had a cool feel to it. But wasn't worth the $60 initially, IMO.

I may need to find a good deal on a used Wii U just for this game. Ocarina of Time is still my favorite game of all time.
Did Link use Apple Pay at 2:35 to enter that dungeon?
They're saying the the demo they showed to press after the trailer covered roughly 1% of the overall map space...in other words, the overworld in E-FRICKEN-NORMOUS
The more I read about it, the cooler it seems with small touches...kicking a chest without boots on causes damage, you have to change your attire based on your environment (too cold and you take damage, same with too hot), the map is apparently fully 3-D rendered as well.

They are live streaming gameplay on twitch right now of that one section.... all weapons are pick up and grab with upgraded versions to be found laying around as well.

Madden Championship airing on ESPN2 right now and it's by far the most TV friendly of the esports games to be presented that I've seen (I missed the FIFA IWC broadcast)

The FIFA Championship was epic, but I agree, sports games are probably the easiest to broadcast given that they're 1 vs. 1. CS:GO, Dots, LoL are extremely difficult since there are so many players and so any actions occurring at once and only one screw to view it on.

Yes...that.... Trying to type on the browser screen on my phone has its negatives, namely the shoddy autocorrect.

One more comment re: Star Wars Battlefront. I am slightly disappointed that after unlocking the vast majority of blasters and star cards, I still find that the best blasters are the Standard Imperial & Standard Rebel blasters. Also, the best sniper rifle is the Pulse Rifle, which you get very early on. The Cycler Rifle is ok – but doesn’t seem to be as good as the Pulse.

I felt the same way...that's why I wish they would've included some form of weapon customization by way of attachments, skins, etc. It keeps you interested in pushing forward and MAYBE makes certain weapons perform better, or at the very least, differently than others. The fact that I was playing into my 30th hour and still using the standard rifle for all modes was absolutely ridiculous, but it was simply the best weapon you could use. Made no sense that outside of the special class cards there was no sense of progression in the game itself and no drive to meet certain objectives outside of the figurines. I always point towards MW2 when it comes to this...my roommate and I probably put weeks into that game in order to get better gun camos, more attachments, different badges and name plates, just random **** in the grand scheme, but you still got a sense of accomplishment when you got there. In Battlefront, all you truly saw was a yellow bar going across the screen after every match with little to no differentiation between characters.
That's the primary reason why I like Overwatch despite what some consider a lack of content. You've got the loot boxes, you've got characters that completely change the way you play, you have maps that are extremely different, rather than just themed re-skinning.

Even 6-7 months post-launch, Battlefront is still a pretty shallow gaming experience. Diorama mode was obviously just a tacked-on embellishment to make the game seem more full; kind of an embarrassment IMO. In terms of multiplayer, I'm hoping that there are more "big three" (Walker Assault, Supremacy, Turning Point) maps on the horizon. Big three is all I play.
And in terms of sniper rifles, the DLT-19x primary is worth the T-21b grinding for the contract and then the learning curve grinding after that. Such a fun weapon to use when you get a handle on the quirks. Mountaintop on Sullust and blockade runner on Jakku for extreme range possibilities. Run Jetpack-Ion Shot-Cycler, then troll away.
And I scoff at your noob cannon.

Story mode?
Much along the lines of 2k's mode from this year. Just a scripted-ish drastic improvement on the Player Career mode.
Well that's a good thing I guess...
The player career mode has never really had any substance behind it, just chasing stats and awards.
That being said I didn't really like the 2k movie thing they had

Absolutely. I'm also still mad that I missed my game winning field goal against you because my kicker didn't have the leg to hit a friggin 37 yarder from dead center field.
Kicking is the one thing that they've never gotten right in football games. Every D1 kicker can make 50 yarders, it's about consistency and accuracy, but since they couldn't be bothered to actually create something that modeled that, they just made half the kickers into small children kicking anvils.

My guess is that they nerfed them a little too much.
I always used that Han Solo blaster (I forget the actual name of it).
I know that the initial post-beta patch added in more significant bullet drop for the Cycler Rifle which threw a lot of people off. Most of the stuff since has been minor tweaks based on community feedback and dev preferences. As it is now, I think the casual weapons are balanced. The skill/novelty weapons need a slight buff though.
