Not sure how much depth you have, but McCullough leaving can't be good news.
I wrote that expecting McCullough to return...now it depends if Thomas Bryant commits.
Sometimes I wonder if it's worth it to bring in these guys that only want to stick around for one year, unless they're a game changer like an Okafor.

Watching these Miami freshmen playing in the NIT championship game, I get the impression that the Canes will be just fine next season.

I agree. McCullough was definitely not a game changer. In fact his production decreased sharply the deeper we went into the season as the competition got stiffer. Thats why SU fans like TexasMark and others, including myself thought for sure he would be back. I think he is insane for declaring early like this. The kid is clearly not ready for the NBA and with his bad acl, and low production, he may not even get drafted. And that would be a total shame.

I agree Cuseroc...it sucks he tore his ACL but he is medically suspect right now. I don't see an NBA team taking him before the 2nd round with the kid still healing. He basically won't be full speed until mid-late Fall.
After he gets cleared to play..hHe could find himself on that 10 day NBA/D-League shuffle for 2-3 years then out of the league.

You either gotta go UK and bring in 3-5 each year or no more than 1 a year. UK has gotta run into APR trouble...but surely UK has a these kids in academic classes that are auto B's.

Obviously depends on his recovery. He's a really talented kid. He won't be a lottery pick because of his injury, but if he comes back healthy, he's going to be a steal in the second half of the first round. I don't see him as a D-League player except maybe for rehab purposes.

RE: Can the ACC sustain its hoops success next year?
The Wolfpack return most of their lineup and have a transfer coming in to fill Turner's spot. I would expect the Martin twins will see more playing time and the four big men really showed a lot of improvement as the year went on. That gives them nine solid players unless there is a transfer. It seems like teams are fortunate to keep nine scholarship players with limited playing time and how easy it is to transfer. If all goes well they could end up getting one of the double byes for the ACCT next year!

Kentucky is fortunate that they recruit pretty good students. They have no APR problem. I imagine UK has these kids in the same kind of classes that pretty much every other school has for theirs.
As for bringing in 3-5 one and done players a year, how many schools can do that? On average there are only about 10 such kids a year. If Kentucky and Duke get 6-8 of them, that doesn't leave a lot for the other 350 D-I schools.
Is it worth it to bring in the likely one and done player? Kentucky, Duke, Kansas, UCLA, UNC and Louisville seem to think so. Maybe we should ask them how it's been working out for them. Other schools don't necessarily recruit other kids because they want to, or think it's a better strategy. They would take the best kids if they could get them. They try to get them. They just don't often succeed.

I'm a bit shocked, but I see Chad Ford has Winslow now going #5 in the lottery with his latest ESPN mock draft. If that's even mildly accurate, I have to imagine he's gone.

After tonight, I'm worried about Greyson Allen getting drafted. He's a hoss.

I imagine the only returning scholarship players are Allen, Matt Jones, & Jefferson. For Duke fans, who cares right now though, enjoy a championship!

The ACC will be just fine next year in basketball. Every conference loses a lot of talent to the NBA every year. So as far as continuity goes, it is a level playing field. Recruits will make the difference and the ACC will get a lion's share of those. The only question will be which ACC school makes the run. I kind of like the Irish's chances again.

Here's a stat that means absolutely nothing: the national champion has played a game in the kfc YUM! center ever since the building has opened. also for the last 3 years, simeone from the conference louisville has been in has won the national championship.

I believe Plumlee has another year of eligibility, since he redshirted a year. Also, Duke has a transfer from Rice, Sean Obi, who had to sit out this year. Adding their two incoming recruits, that would give them 7 scholarship players committed for next year.
Brandon Ingram, from Kinston, NC, also has Duke on his short list. If Kentucky doesn't have a roster spot for him, I would think the Devils are a likely second choice. After this Final Four, they might have even moved into the lead regardless how many Kentucky players leave early.
Barring injury, that would still leave Duke very competitive, despite not having a true point guard.

ND was not the same team when Grant wasn't in the lineup. With him graduating, they are a huge question mark for me. Virginia, if they don't have any early departures for the NBA, has a better chance of competing for a top seed again.

Everyone except Wake, GT, VT, Clemson, BC will be competitive. UNC and UVA will be elite. Dook, NCSU, Miami, Louisville will be NCAA Tourney teams. FSU, Pitt, ND, and Syr are wildcards.

Hate to say it but the mutts over in Raleigh have a good shot at a high seed.

Do you think there will be a ruling from the NCAA regarding the UNC-CH paper classes coming down before the start of next season? That could mean sitting out the Tourney next year and losing some scholarships couldn't it?

Agree. This past season there were 5 elite teams and they pinned so many losses on the middle teams that they could not stay in the race for tournament bids. But next year it seems that perhaps only uva and unc will be dominant and that means 6 or 7 other teams will all be doing much better in the rankings. Especially after the acc showed how dominant it was in the ncaa tournament this year, it seems less likely that they will be snubbed again.
