KIMANI JACKSON-We need to get him. Long wing span, gigantic hands and explosive. We are a Sweet 16 team with a player like him to build around.

I don't know if we are a serious option for him but his tape is among the best I've seen of the players we've been after over the years.

Although Richard Ross will be hard to replace in regards to his athleticism, I read your article and the youtube video clip you provided on odubleedblue and I couldn't agree with you more on Kimani Jackson. Hope we have a good shot at landing him.

Not just a 6'8"-6'10" guy, we need one with some scoring ability. I would be happy with the next Gerald Lee who contributes from day one.

You think we'd be able to land another graduate transfer like Arledge this year to help supplant the forwards?

A graduate transfer of Arledge's quality would be gold for us.

I'd like to get back to recruiting good freshman bigs. Every year for the last 4 or 5 we've been saying we need bigs. That used to be where,ODU excelled. Yeah another Juco or grad transfer would be great, but we need a good freshman who can grow w the system too.

We only had two bigs in the last 20 years, who could play as freshman. You guys know Jackson has three years of eligible.

Back to Kimani Jackson (6'8, 220)

He has offers from Tenn, Colorado State and JMU. He wants to wait until after his JUCO season is completed until he takes visits. My guess is we continue to look hard for a short term Richard Ross replacement but Jackson is an immediate impact player.

Jackson does sound pretty dang good. Hope the coaches can pull it off. The Tenn fans sure seem to be excited about him.

Trey Freeman worked out pretty well putting up good numbers on a bad team and transferring. Bad teams also get 13 scholarships. It isn't beyond comprehension that most of them probably have a player that could contribute to ODU, be it Snowden or Short at Norfolk State. Now obviously, we have to go big with the last scholarship, but if we were to lose someone through transfer or whatever other reason, I see no reason from a pure basketball standpoint why either wouldn't be considered if they wanted to come here, granted academics and discipline are unknown.

I hate to join this conversation, because I believe it to be pointless and unproductive. Jeff Jones is recruiting 6'8 guards with 7 foot wing spans and you guys think he's going to accept a transfer that is a 6'4 power forward?

That ship sailed, great kid, great family, nice player. Both parties have moved on and are flourishing.

That Kimani Jackson, though...6'8,220, seven foot wing span, monster hands and a legit post player. 6th rated JUCO in the nation with 3 years of eligibility.

A 2016 player we are actually recruiting

Jackson would be a great get for us. We need the added dimension in the post.

I'm rooting hard for ODU to land this Jackson kid, he looks like a better version of Keyon Carter. Better handle, looks like range out to 3, longer, super quick off the floor. Looks like he could be a tremendous high post guy in the offense against some of these zones. ODU would be super athletic with him and Taylor down low.
