Idk why all you guys were so excited that Pervier was looking at ODU before he signed, then once he signed all you guys were negative saying idk if he will do that well, thats a lot for a Juco transfer to do, etc. he's a 7'1 280lbs true big man. Plays better against bigger and better competition. Almost had a triple double against indian hills, one of the best jucos around. Had 32pts, 18rebounds, 4blks against 7'2 and 6'10 this past week. While also playing with 4 other d1 guards, idk what else e has to do. When he gets to ODU this summer yall gonna eat your words quick.

You shouldn't just throw around a phrase like "all you guys" because it is rarely correct. I thought Pervier would be a great pick up when I first heard we had offered him, and I was very happy to hear he committed to ODU.

From what Pervier was told, they are trying to get a 6'10+ highschool big man as well. To delevelop and give payton someone with size to practice against regularly

Sounds good to me.

I'm liking the Payton signing, nice complement to go with our long wings. "He's big as they get", as Talley said. We can lock down the paint and guard the jump shooters with our length. That last game of Payton was a solid outing. I been hearing the big HS'er also and Isaiah Maurice 6-9 is still on the board.

I don't recall a single poster on this board being negative towards Pervier. And yes, Maurice is a high major talent. The type of player that JJ wants to build around.

No not on the 2016, but on the 2015 posters have talked about how they would have preferred stealing a big from a p5 conference, how his numbers are good but it's only juco, etc. juco has d1 guys everwhere... I over generalized with saying all you guys but I'm just trying to get the point that across that he is being underestimated. Wichita state moved him to dodge city calling him a Kevin love type player, then once they thought he was in their pocket they relaxed and ODU came at him even harder. Payton had a lot of big d1s out of highschool, didn't have the grades, signed d2 and followed the assistant coach to naia. Left after some trouble and has grown incredibly on and off the court since. He's now a 21 year old with a good head on his shoulders ready to get to this next level, help ODU make major noise in the tournament and go play pro ball. Just wait and see, after all the stuff he's been through in the last 4 years, he's got a chip on his shoulder.

ODUfan12 is correct. There were some less than enthusiastic comments after the commitment. Not sure I would call the comments "negative" per se, but there were definitely quite a few I would consider "doubtful".

Gotcha, he is posting monstrous stats. Keep in mind these are HIGH possessions games with scores reaching into the 90's and even triple digits. We play a much slower game so it is hard to project his impact.

I like how he rebounds and scores, just need to add more rim protection IMO with an additional player to compliment him.

ODUfan12-You have to forgive many of us on here. Any post player larger than 6'10 has just not lived up to the hype over the past decade. Our BB program is defined by 6'9 post players and we hold everyone to a high and unfair standard.

I think Pervier is different than some of the others and a real factor.

With Ross and Arledge graduating, Taylor will need some serious help in the paint next year.

The hook shot would be what he's best at. He snapped his left arm in half in highschool so his right is a lot better than his left, but he's been working on it.

Just curious, do you live in Snohomish? You seem to have in depth knowledge of Pervier. Thank you for sharing it with us.

From: @Kylemccaskey
@GoConqs' Payton Pervier on win over No. 6 Hutch: "Coach (Kyle Campbell) has been challenging us. He told us to bring the dogs out."

Payton was one rebound short of a double-double, had like 5 blocks, and a couple assists, against the #6 Hutchinson. Fouls may of limited his time.

Thanks for the link, Payton had a nice week, worthy of the accolades. Thinking they'll be more to come.
